JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Dean of the Learning Commons and Classroom Technology or their designee, this position works with faculty, staff, and administration to build, design, assess courses, and conduct faculty development programs. Responsibilities include developing and facilitating workshops and webinars, providing resources, and individual consultations for the use of effective teaching methodologies and technology in online, hybrid, blended, and face-to-face courses in support of CCRI’s Strategic Plan. The successful candidate will foster collaborative partnerships with faculty in the design, planning, and evaluation of courses, learning environments, and active learning experiences by employing best instructional design practices and principles. Additionally, online learning data collection, analysis, and assessment duties may be required as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to design, develop, and improve courses that reflect the mission of an open-access community college and support diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, student support services, and IT units to align instructional design practices with institutional goals and resources.
  • Provide individualized faculty coaching and consultations on effective teaching strategies, adapting support to different disciplines, and incorporating inclusive instructional materials and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Design and facilitate professional development workshops, webinars, and consultations on instructional design principles, pedagogy, technology integration, and adult learning theory.
  • Develop and facilitate professional development workshops, webinars, and consultations on instructional design, pedagogy, and technology integration.
  • Create instructional and eLearning resources, including templates, guides, and multimedia (e.g., Articulate Rise/Storyline, infographics, motion graphics, audio/video production) to support high-quality instructional delivery.
  • Participate in curriculum development and review processes to ensure quality, accessibility, and alignment with institutional and accreditation standards, including the use of recognized rubrics such as OSCQR and Quality Matters.
  • Incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and ensure compliance with current Title II ADA, WCAG accessibility standards, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Communicate complex ideas visually and clearly through course materials, graphics, and resources that enhance student learning and faculty understanding.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (written, oral, and visual) when supporting faculty and collaborating across campus.
  • Incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and ensure compliance with current Title II ADA, accessibility standards, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Build courses in the learning management system in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Perform additional duties as directed to support institutional priorities and the evolving needs of faculty and students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or other closely related field required.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant instructional design, faculty development, or similar work experience at the college level.
  • Minimum five years of online teaching experience at the college level.
  • Thorough and demonstrable knowledge of college-level and adult learning best practices.
  • Strong familiarity with Blackboard Learn/Ultra Learning Management System (LMS)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong background in multi-media, including scripting, video production, and post-production.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting, particularly a community college.
  • Working knowledge of various Learning Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse group of adult learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong time management and project management skills.
