The Instructional Designer / DTS Trainer III will coordinate and maintain design concepts and e-learning training initiatives. This advanced role will partner with training and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to analyze training needs, design, and develop curricula according to adult learning theory, instructional principles, and user objectives across several modalities with expertise in Web Design and Development, Instructional Design and eLearning, Video production & editing, motion graphics, Graphic Design, and Print Production. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess technical and working knowledge of various development tools and LMS pipelines, as well as exhibit high-level skills in numerous desktop and other technical software applications.

This department works approximately 80% remotely, 20% on site in our Philadelphia offices on an as-needed basis.

A Brief Overview
• Demonstrates exceptional knowledge of and expertise in instructional design and development.
• Exhibits expert skills in numerous desktop applications.
• Demonstrates advanced expertise in project management
• Demonstrates advanced proficiency in creating and reviewing detailed work-related documentation.
• Evaluates training programs for adherence to best practices and CHOP training standards and procedures and recommends improvements.
• Works independently, educates and evaluates DTS Trainers I & II, and communicates and collaborates with CHOP staff and leadership.

What you will do
  • Utilize creative and innovative methodologies to develop state-of-the-art deliverables.  
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate content and program development is created according to the overall learning strategy design.  
  • Create high-impact, best-in-class, and on-brand deliverables across online learning and interactive experiences, video, audio, motion graphics, photography, and design. 
  • Maximize the effectiveness of training materials by researching training methodologies, learning tools, and practices. 
  • Convert SME content into web-based training based on proven instructional design and adult learning theory.   
  • Write instructional text, audio narration, and video scripts & storyboards. 
  • Research, design, and implement training materials using various multi-media channels, including digital and paper based. 
  • Develop learning templates to provide consistency in education and adhere to proven instructional design standards.  
  • A DTS Trainer III is a senior contributor with similar responsibilities as the DTS Trainer II, but with a greater degree of complexity. A DTS Trainer III may be involved in some leadership activities. A DTS Trainer III also:
  • Works closely with Training Project Manager to establish and execute tasks, plans and processes.
  • Works to promote training program awareness and integration across projects, departments and the organization.
  • Mentors DTS Trainers I & II and provides input regarding performance evaluations.
  • Information Security Requirements
  • Understand and comply with all enterprise and DTS departmental information security policies, procedures and standards.
  • Support the integration of information security in the development, design, and implementation of Hospital Technology Resources that process, transmit, or store CHOP information.
  • Support all compliance activities related to state, federal regulatory requirements, healthcare accreditation standards, and all other applicable regulations that govern the use and disclosure of patient, financial, or other confidential information.

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree - Required

Experience Qualifications
  • At least four (4) years experience designing, developing, and delivering training. Required
  • At least three (3) years IT, Healthcare, or related experience in a training capacity. Preferred
  • Experience working as an Instructional Designer Preferred
