Job Description
Title: Instructional Designer – Workday Transformation Enablement
Location: Hybrid – Willis Tower, Chicago, IL ( Tues – Thurs onsite 1st and 3rd week of the month, Tues & Weds onsite 2nd and 4th week of the month)
Hours: 9am – 5pm CST
Duration & Type: Initial 6-month contract with potential for extension or conversion
Compensation: Competitive W2 hourly rate ($34-35 per hour), plus access to healthcare and dental insurance plans of choice (benefit plan details available upon request)

Summary
Our client is seeking an Instructional Designer – Workday Transformation Enablement to support Project Elevate, a large-scale enterprise HR technology transformation centered around a Workday implementation. This role will sit within the Global Learning function and play a critical role in designing and delivering learning solutions that drive enterprise readiness, user adoption, and sustained behavioral change across the organization.

This is not a traditional course development role. The ideal consultant brings deep experience supporting Workday implementations through learning strategy and execution, with the ability to rapidly translate evolving system requirements into scalable, learner-centric enablement solutions.

What You Will Be Accountable For
Workday Transformation Learning Strategy
  • Design and deliver end-user learning solutions supporting a large-scale Workday HCM transformation, including role-based enablement for employees, managers, HR teams, payroll, and support functions
  • Translate complex HR workflows, system configurations, and future-state business processes into clear, effective learning experiences
  • Partner closely with HR, HRIS, IT, Change Management, Communications, implementation partners, and business stakeholders to align learning strategy with deployment milestones
  • Support enterprise adoption efforts by reinforcing new business processes, behaviors, and ways of working—not simply system navigation
Instructional Design & Content Development
  • Develop high-impact learning solutions using adult learning principles and instructional systems design (ISD) methodologies
  • Build blended learning programs including:
  • eLearning modules
  • Instructor-led training (ILT/VILT)
  • Quick reference guides
  • Job aids
  • System walkthroughs
  • Knowledge articles
  • Microlearning assets
  • Create scalable, just-in-time support content that enables users in the flow of work
  • Develop learning content aligned to transformation phases including testing, UAT, deployment, go-live readiness, and post-launch sustainment
Digital Learning Development
  • Build interactive eLearning content using Articulate Rise / Articulate 360
  • Develop microlearning and rapid enablement content using modern tools where appropriate (7Taps, Synthesia, Vyond preferred)
  • Ensure learning assets are engaging, accessible, and aligned with enterprise standards

What Qualifications You Need
  • 3+ years of instructional design experience in enterprise/corporate environments
  • Hands-on experience supporting Workday implementation training initiatives (strongly preferred)
  • Experience designing learning for enterprise HR technology platforms (Workday HCM highly preferred; comparable HRIS/HCM systems considered)
  • Strong instructional design experience with Articulate Rise / Articulate 360
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale enterprise transformations, digital enablement initiatives, or system implementations
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory, learning design methodologies, and learner engagement best practices
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder partnership and cross-functional collaboration experience
  • Proven ability to work independently in fast-moving, ambiguous transformation environments
  • Strong analytical thinking and creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent prioritization and project execution skills with the ability to manage multiple competing deliverables

Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep Workday HCM implementation enablement experience
  • Experience with Workday modules such as: Core HCM, Payroll, Talent Management, Recruiting, Manager Self-Service / Employee Self-Service
  • Experience with microlearning tools including: 7Taps, Synthesia, Vyond
  • Experience supporting ServiceNow or ServiceNow HR implementations
  • Familiarity with change management frameworks and adoption methodologies
  • Experience in phased rollouts, agile delivery environments, or enterprise transformation programs
  • Prior experience within large, complex organizations
