POSITION SPECIFICS
Penn State's School of Graduate and Professional Studies is accepting applications for an Instructional Technology Specialist to join our online learning design team. The Instructional Technology Specialist works collaboratively with faculty, subject matter experts, and other partners to design, develop, and support high-quality online courses and workforce development learning experiences. This role serves as a project manager for assigned initiatives and uses a range of technology-enhanced systems to develop content for a variety of delivery modes, including noncredit offerings and professional learning experiences.

We are seeking an Instructional Technology Specialist with a strong understanding of pedagogical principles, instructional systems design, and the application of both established and emerging educational technologies. The successful candidate will apply instructional design best practices to support effective teaching and learning across multiple delivery formats. Proficiency with Learning Management Systems, particularly Canvas and Canvas Catalog, along with a strong foundation in multimedia development processes, accessibility standards, and copyright requirements, is essential. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects at once, oversee scope, timelines, and deliverables, and demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, time management, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills. The successful candidate will also use the team's project management system, follow established procedures, and contribute to the ongoing improvement and documentation of team processes. Experience with tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, and other web-based tools is highly desirable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
  • For this position, related experience may include instructional design, teaching, training, workforce development, online learning development, or related experience in education or professional learning environments.
  • Experience integrating educational technology into learning environments is preferred, including emerging technologies and immersive learning experiences.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and Universal Design for Learning is preferred.
