The ideal applicant for the eLearning Services Consultant position has a track record of excellent customer service skills, moderate knowledge and troubleshooting skills around the Blackboard Learn LMS, comfortability with training, presenting and providing consultation to faculty and other university constitutes, and has a forward-thinking frame of mind. In addition, this applicant also has working knowledge of using data analytics tools both internal and external to an LMS as well as application support skills for teaching and learning focused technologies.

What will the day-to-day look like for this position?

You will provide exceptional training and support to customers across the University of South Carolina system.

You will perform LMS admin functions in Blackboard and document your work in the ServiceNow ticketing system. You will design, develop and facilitate LMS training opportunities for faculty members. You will run regular LMS analytics reports that will assist in strategic decision making in eLearning Services around the university LMS. You will learn to support and perform system administration duties for teaching and learning focused applications as needed. You will communicate regularly with the eLearning Services team and cross-train on shared responsibilities. You will develop your skills through real-world experience and professional development opportunities. You will collaborate with IT colleagues and LMS Support partners throughout the University of South Carolina system to provide innovative solutions and problem resolution.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience  | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Systems or related field:
  • 2+ years of experience as an administrator for an LMS
  • Knowledge of instructional technologies, training and presentation design and facilitation skills for technical trainings in a higher education venue.
  • Experience as an administrator for an LMS
  • Competency in contributing to multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced working environment
  • Proficiency in customer support, client communications, and building relationships with faculty and subject matter experts
  • Competency in quickly mastering new and emerging tools and technologies
  • Working knowledge of video conferencing technology (Zoom/Teams)
  • Proficiency in solving problems, think creatively, and work collaboratively
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
