This position is available within the University of Maryland's Division of Information Technology (DIT).
Join our team to be a part of the exciting transformation as we migrate UMD computing systems to a modern cloud-based solution. The IT Software Engineer, Workday Integration will use Workday integration code including Studio, EIB, Reports, and BIRTs as part of the Workday Student implementation. The position is hands-on, agile, team-based development.
The Software Engineer is responsible for:
Implementing solutions within a development team.
Following a formal development methodology and working within scheduled timelines.
Participating in peer code reviews, documentation, and formal testing.
**This position is considered essential and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergency to help maintain the continuity of University services.**
Physical Demands:
Sedentary work. Employee will need to be able to sit for long periods of time to work on a computer, as well as travel occasionally to meet with clients and customers on and off campus. May need to work evenings and/or weekends. This position is considered an essential position and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergencies to help maintain continuity of University services.
Preferences:
- Experience with Workday's Integration Framework
- Experience developing technical integrations from beginning to end
- Experience with ETL and/or Report development platforms.
- Experience with Java
Essential Duties:
- Produce deliverables including working application software, prototypes, and unit tests.
- Produce project and system documentation including specifications, technical requirements, test plans, and database schema diagrams.
- Participate in planning sessions, code reviews, and professional development activities.

Please note that all positions within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) have an in person component with expected time in our College Park, MD location per week. Telework is not a guaranteed work arrangement.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of professional software engineering experience.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of custom interfaces and websites, using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
Knowledge of software development methodologies.
Skill in effective written and oral communication.
Skill in the use of office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces.
Ability to provide basic mentorship to junior staff members.
Ability to create custom code.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
