Overview: 
Title: IT Specialist
Non-Exempt
Salary: $55,000-60,000/year
 
 
Scope of Position:
Provide all levels of technical assistance to computer system users as well as manage the networks of multiple office locations (9) in the Gulf Coast Region with remote support from an experienced and cooperative IT team.

Responsibilities: 
Essential Functions:
  • Expect to travel 3-4 days a week within the Gulf Coast Region between a total of 9 locations
  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications
  • Oversee the daily performance of computer systems and their users
  • Maintain the expected security level of all devices and accounts in accordance to EDSI and state policies and regulations
  • Set up equipment for employee use, such as projectors, speakers and other media peripherals
  • Utilize the EDSI IT ticketing system to track and manage open and outstanding IT issues
  • Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications
  • Ideate with staff and identify innovations and efficiency related to technical processes within each office
  • Create training materials, procedures, best practices and help sheets in order to train users in the proper use of hardware and software
  • Work with the vendor or manufacturer of a company to order or replace products
  • Prepare evaluations of software or hardware, and recommend improvements or upgrades
  • Inventory all IT related items used, purchased and disposed of
  • Keep all software patched and up to date
  • Modify and customize commercial programs for internal needs
  • Answer users' and employees’ inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operations to resolve problems
  • Observe network traffic and computer usage
  • Monitor and manage network and domain issues, updates and modifications
  • Be available to help with server installations, changes and patches
  • Follow the best practices, guidelines and regulations imposed by EDSI

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • 3 years of professional IT experience
  • A+ Certified preferred 
  • Windows Server and OS experience
  • Network firewalls, switches and wireless ap experience
  • VOIP and associated technology experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science
