Project Overview
Brainscape is seeking a talented Japanese translator / content creator to help build a new A1 curriculum for our flashcard web and mobile app. You’ll work from our proven content template (with full training and style guide provided) to create high-quality flashcards and study materials designed specifically for beginner learners.

Job Description
You will be responsible for creating and reviewing A1 language content that is clear, accurate, and culturally relevant. This role is collaborative and requires a keen eye for detail, plus the ability to simplify complex concepts for first-time learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise on best practices for representing Japanese in a digital flashcard format (e.g., script vs. romanization, diacritics, learner scaffolding).
  • Provide feedback on learner challenges unique to Japanese (e.g., script direction, pronunciation).
  • Adapt our content template for A1 flashcards to create a full Japanese A1 curriculum.
  • Write accurate and contextually appropriate translations for vocabulary and phrases.
  • Craft concise, beginner-friendly flashcard footnotes explaining grammar, pronunciation, or cultural nuances.
  • Review and edit content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and pedagogical soundness with our style guide.
  • Apply best practices from language learning tools and mobile flashcards.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Fluent in both English and Japanese.
  • Bonus points for proficiency in a third language.
  • Experience teaching Japanese or developing language learning content.

Commitment
