Pay Range Information
Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Job Description Summary
The K–12 Professional Learning Specialist serves within TPI’s K–12 Practice Initiatives and is responsible for supporting school districts and school sites in strengthening educator capacity to meet the needs of diverse learners. The K–12 Professional Learning Specialist is a highly qualified educator with deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and evidence-based teaching practices.

This role leads and supports professional learning activities, including classroom observations, coaching, modeling, and feedback designed to strengthen instructional effectiveness and improve student outcomes. The K–12 Professional Learning Specialist works collaboratively with site and district leaders to advance strategic priorities related to educational access, equity, and high-quality learning opportunities for all students, including students with disabilities.

This position requires regular travel within California to support TPI’s K–12 Practice Initiatives across multiple sites. The employee must have reliable transportation, the ability to travel independently as needed, a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required. to perform job duties.
Responsibilities
PK-12 Instructional Coaching
  • Provide professional development and technical assistance to schools and districts on evidence-based instructional practices, educational access for diverse learners, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
  • Develop materials and related tools for schools to promote inclusive education programming
  • Conduct observations and provide appropriate coaching, modeling, and feedback
  • Support district and site leaders in developing implementation plans Employ feedback and coaching conversations to foster reflection of practice and continuous growth among professionals, enhance student learning, and promote trust-based relationships
  • Facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLC) to lead the planning, facilitate, and continuously improve teacher-led and student-focused professional development for teachers, in either in-person or virtual modes
  • Model best practices in curriculum design, instructional methods, and classroom management skills
  • Collect and use data to drive instruction as well as to inform school-wide initiatives
  • Create, revise, and implement new curriculum, connecting it with classroom instruction
  • Create systems, protocols, and processes for school sites
  • Provide support in analyzing data to inform practices

Program Support School Liaison
  • Develop partnerships with school districts, school sites, and county offices of education
  • Support professional development training schedules and corresponding events and all related materials (marketing, zoom links, Qualtrics surveys, etc.)
  • Keeps current on evidence-based instructional strategies and best practices with an emphasis on inclusive education and disseminates this information to school sites
  • Collaborates regularly with partners
  • Travel to school sites and training sites
Required Qualifications
  • Certificated teacher with minimum of 5 years of experience teaching
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction at multiple grade levels
  • Strong pedagogical knowledge and expertise
  • Demonstrates expertise in inclusive education including students with extensive support needs in general education classrooms
  • Ability to design and deliver high-quality professional development and coaching to a variety of educators
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional practices
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture professional community of adult learners
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks
  • Willingness to collaborate with district and site staff
  • Willingness to travel
