Job Description
The Data Systems Administrator is a key member of the Technology Team, responsible for ensuring the integrity, security, and accessibility of business-critical data. This is an ideal role for a highly motivated and detail-oriented candidate with strong technical skills and experience in a corporate environment. This role will oversee the management and maintenance of data integrations between our core business systems (Sage, UKG, PowerSchool) and the PowerSchool Student Information System, as well as other integrations and automations.
General Responsibilities and Duties (but not limited to):
- Maintain all integrations with business systems (Sage, UKG, Slack), including configuration, upgrades, performance monitoring, and backups/restores (where possible), to ensure data accuracy and system stability.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive business information and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations.
- Oversee data integrations and automated workflows between managed applications using SFTP services and APIs.
- Work collaboratively with department heads and staff to gather requirements for system enhancements, diagnose and resolve technical issues, and minimize disruption to business operations.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations and procedures to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Contribute to Business Continuity Planning for data backup and recovery.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine administrative tasks and data processes (e.g., Python, PowerShell, R, Ruby on Rails).
- Knowledge of and ability to implement SSO (SAML, OIDC, OAuth), API Keys, tokens, secrets, and client keys.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of and experience with corporate business systems like Sage, UKG, and Slack.
- Proficient in managing data integrations via SFTP and APIs.
- Technical proficiency in PowerSchool configuration, reporting, and maintenance, including experience with custom fields, pages, and plugins.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Single Sign-On (SSO) standards, including SAML, ODIC, and OAuth.
- Skilled in configuring and deploying VMs for script testing in development and production environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- A strong sense of awareness and understanding of security protocols regarding the handling and protection of confidential business data.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating initiative and independence.

Compensation & Benefits:
KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $95,000 per year. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band. Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range, however they are ultimately determined by scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.
