Position Description:  | Position Summary:
Facilitate the daily operations of the cashier’s office by coordinating the collection, receipting, reconciling, and depositing of all College payments received from students, departments, and external sources. Responsible for coordinating the student refund process, check investigations, and stale date process.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform all basic duties of the Cashier’s Office including posting student account payments. Oversee daily opening and/or closing procedures and advise staff on internal control procedures for collecting and depositing College payments. Train staff on cashiering duties, answer questions, and resolve problems. Control access to safe, maintain and balance safe and change drawer cash, and maintain accurate record of safe contents. Verify daily cashier transactions and deposits, and resolve any discrepancies. Verify departmental deposits; notify department of any discrepancies and advise on proper reporting and deposit procedures. Prepare bank deposits for cash transport and verify receipt. Project currency and coin requirements and reorder from bank as necessary. Generate daily ACH files, upload secure electronic files to the bank, and reconcile with student accounts. Download return ACH files, research student accounts, and post returned checks. Access daily online credit card settlement and summary reports, and reconcile with student accounts. Provide reports and reconciling data to Cash Management. Coordinate the student refund process and serve as liaison between Student Accounting, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, and Financial Aid. Research and resolve out of balance accounts. Serve as the primary contact for student claims of non-receipt for refund checks and direct deposits, as well as all student refund related inquiries. Initiate and coordinate internal check and direct deposit investigations upon receipt of a signed affidavit stating funds have not been received. Investigate outstanding refund checks and process per procedure including coordination of returns per Title IV regulations. Research and update student accounts when letters and/or student refund checks are returned and process per procedure. Prepare and control miscellaneous change funds issued for various college activities. Maintain confidentiality of College and student records. Position is identified as Work from Home eligible. See criteria below.

Other duties as assigned.  
Related Duties: Maintain and update the cashier training manual. Order and maintain adequate department supplies. Enter department requisitions as requested. Serve as a back up to other office staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High School diploma or GED equivalent and 30 credit hours in related coursework and four (4) years relevant work experience or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must be exceptionally detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Competency in spelling, proofreading, basic math, and filing. Proficiency in the use of computerized accounting and cloud-based software programs, integrated computer systems, and Microsoft Office including Outlook, and Excel. Demonstration of skill level may be required during interview.  Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and telephone etiquette. Ability to handle confidential information and materials appropriately. Ability to work without direct supervision. · Must have an excellent attendance record and the ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings/weekends.Must pass financial and criminal background check.
