Purpose of Position

The Lead, Technical Product Manager leads the strategy, design, and delivery of high-quality, scalable digital solutions that accelerate our instructional materials review processes. This role owns the vision and execution of AI-enabled review innovations while also contributing product leadership to the core platform systems that support growth, integration, and long-term sustainability. Through close partnership with internal stakeholders and external partners, this position ensures that EdReports’ tools are rigorous, trusted, and aligned to organizational priorities. Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead product strategy and execution for the Review Process Innovation (RPI) team, owning the vision, roadmap, and delivery of AI-enabled solutions that accelerate EdReports’ review processes while maintaining review quality, rigor, and trust. (This role will spend roughly 75-80% of time on the RPI team.)
  • Provide product management to the Platform Team, contributing to the roadmap and delivery of scalable systems that support increased review volume, expanded scope, and future tool integrations. (This role will spend roughly 20-25% of time on the Platform team.)
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including content leaders, subject matter experts, operations, and leadership, to gather requirements, align priorities, and ensure products address real organizational and user needs.
  • Manage external vendors or partners as needed to source, integrate, or scale components of the review innovation ecosystem, ensuring alignment with product requirements, timelines, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders on the evolution of EdReports’ content management system, translating organizational needs into technical requirements and sequencing work to minimize disruption.
  • Collaborate with external partners and users of the EdReports API and data, supporting effective usage, gathering feedback, and informing platform enhancements that enable integration and interoperability.
  • Steward resources, timelines, and priorities to deliver high-quality, scalable products while optimizing team capacity and organizational resources.
  • Embed principles of diversity, belonging, inclusion, and equity into product design, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement to ensure EdReports equitably serves all communities.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned to support the organization's strategic goals, with the expectation that all EdReports employees remain flexible and adaptable to evolving responsibilities.

Outcomes:

First 30 days

  • Build a strong understanding of EdReports’ mission, values, product portfolio, and strategic priorities, including the current product roadmap and backlog.
  • Establish initial relationships with cross-functional partners and stakeholders (e.g., content leaders, subject matter experts, operations, technology, and leadership) to understand key dependencies, pain points, and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Develop a working understanding of the technical plan, including the content management system, data flows, and existing integrations (e.g., APIs).
  • Assess current product management practices, documentation, decision-making processes, and capacity constraints across the RPI and Platform teams.

First 60 days

  • Stand up the Review Process Innovation (RPI) team by developing a team charter, defining roles and responsibilities, and establishing collaboration norms, shared rhythms, and ceremonies.
  • Deeply understand the end-to-end review process, existing review workstreams and commitments, and key metrics related to review quality, rigor, trust, and cycle time.
  • Begin active product management support for the Platform team by contributing to roadmap planning, sequencing work to support scalability, integrations, and future growth.
  • In partnership with the RPI team and key stakeholders, communicate a clear product vision and early strategy recommendations that align with organizational goals and resource realities.

First 90 days

  • Communicate a clear product vision, roadmap, and strategic recommendations to leadership and cross-functional partners, ensuring transparency around tradeoffs, sequencing, and impact.
  • Strengthen collaboration with internal and external users of EdReports’ platform, APIs, and data by incorporating feedback into product enhancements that enable integration and interoperability.
  • Clarify success metrics and feedback loops for RPI and platform initiatives, using data and user input to inform iteration and continuous improvement.
  • Be recognized as a trusted, strategic, and collaborative partner across the organization, modeling EdReports’ core values and a strong commitment to diversity, belonging, inclusion, and equity.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Passion for EdReports’ mission and vision, our core values, and our commitment to Diversity, Belonging, Inclusion, and Equity.
  • 5+ years of product management experience, including ownership of technical products such as internal tools, workflow systems, platforms, APIs, or data-enabled applications.
  • Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end product delivery for complex initiatives, including defining product requirements, prioritizing work, partnering with engineering, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong technical fluency, with the ability to collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and technical partners; comfortable discussing system behavior, data flows, APIs, automation, and technical tradeoffs (hands-on coding not required).
  • Experience contributing to or leading AI-enabled or automation-focused product work, with an emphasis on improving efficiency while maintaining quality, reliability, and user trust.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, including subject matter experts, operations, engineering, and leadership, to gather input, align on priorities, and translate needs into clear product requirements.
  • Experience supporting platform or shared systems, such as content management systems, internal infrastructure, or integration layers, with attention to scalability and long-term maintainability.
  • Ability to manage work involving external vendors or partners, including contributing to solution evaluation, coordinating integrations, and ensuring work meets defined requirements and quality standards.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage diverse internal and external partners, influence decision-making, and represent EdReports’ mission and values.
  • Proven commitment to Diversity, Belonging, Inclusion, and Equity (DBIE), and demonstrated ability to apply an equity lens in both product development and team leadership practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Product Management, Computer Science, Informatics) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Residency in and authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the education sector, nonprofit space, or an adjacent field involving curriculum development, reviews, evaluation systems, or research-driven product work strongly preferred.
  • An understanding of the K–12 education landscape, including instructional materials, or educator-facing tools and resources.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ability to adapt these frameworks to a collaborative, equity-centered, and evidence-based environment.
  • Experience collaborating closely with data science or AI engineering teams to operationalize models or automation within real-world workflows.

Travel

National travel will occur related to organizational needs and for professional learning, as needed. The amount of travel will be monitored to ensure it is appropriate for both the organization and the Lead, Technical Product Manager.

Salary

The salary for this position is $102,824 - $139,114 annually. At EdReports, we determine final salaries based on the role's requirements and the candidate's experience and skills, while maintaining equity within our compensation bands. To support fairness and provide opportunities for growth, we typically offer salaries at or below the midpoint of the range. All salary offers are non-negotiable to ensure consistency and equity across the organization.

Work Authorization Requirements

All EdReports employees must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States. EdReports does not sponsor employment visas, and we are unable to consider candidates residing outside the U.S.

Physical Requirements

Work is normally performed in a remote office environment including, but not limited to standing and sitting for long periods of time; and fine-finger and hand manipulation to operate a computer and keyboard. Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing electronic information, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading. This person will travel by car, air, or other transportation (as indicated in the Travel section) and should be able to physically withstand the demands of such travel. Employee may be required to walk for long distances at retreat venues or other relevant sites.
