Full-Time / M-F (Hybrid 3 days in office / 2 days remote) - Located in Columbus or Cincinnati

Position Summary:
The Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist is responsible for the development, management and administration of all aspects of the new hire training and onboarding.  The L&D Specialist is also responsible for the on-going training of teammates throughout their employment life cycle and development/promotion into new positions. The L&D Specialist will analyze the effectiveness of existing trainings and needs for new trainings to meet organizational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages and administers the onboarding and preceptorship for Admin, Support, Clinical Support and clinical positions. This includes communication with new hires and setting expectations for onboarding and training and stressing the importance of patient satisfaction. Works with department leads/managers to identify and place new hire with preceptors. Verifies completion of all required trainings.
  • Manages the preceptor program including training, program design and development of the preceptors.
  • Communicates with preceptor and provides all needed information and documentation to ensure smooth onboarding and training experiences for the new hire, focusing on ensuring the candidate feels welcome and has a path for success in their new role. 
  • Manages and administers the on-going training, remediation training, and career development pathways for current staff. Learning solutions may include: in-person and virtual classroom programs, eLearning, videos, and task simulations.
  • Develops and implements training programs to support specific organizational initiatives.
  • Develops and leads team-building exercises and workshops as requested. 
  • Revises current content and develops new content for training programs as needed. 
  • Escalates any concerns regarding new staff deficiencies to the department managers with additional training recommendations.
  • Provides documented feedback of teammate progress and mastery of knowledge and tasks with the individual’s manager.
  • Partners with department managers to develop learning courses that are accurate and up to date with current policies and practices while highlighting best practices. Identifies and addresses training concerns for new hires and existing teammates.
  • Development and design of learning solutions which may include: in-person and virtual classroom programs, eLearning, video tutorials, written job aids, and task simulations.
  • Keeps up to date with new instructional design technologies and adult learning theories.
  • Maintains friendly, cordial and confident relationships with all teammates and partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in training, education, human resources or healthcare management/administration is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in development and deployment of learning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Instructional Design experience utilizing Articulate, Adobe Creative Cloud, Vyond is preferred. Experience using AI in instructional design is a plus.
 
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects.  Must be able to climb, pull, push and kneel.  Maximum unassisted lift = 25 lbs.  Average lift less than 10 lbs.  Must be able to work extended hours as necessary.

Supervising responsibility:
Responsible for making recommendations to department managers for hiring, corrective actions, terminations and performance evaluations.
