Reporting to the Learning and Development Program Manager, the Learning and Development Specialist will assist with coordination, design, development, delivery, and measurement of training programs as well as coordinate resources and vendors for outside training. The Learning and Development Specialist will ensure training programs are effectively aligned with business needs and strategic initiatives.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Designs, coordinates, documents, and delivers training sessions to enhance employee skills, increase staff performance, and create career paths for employee development, with support and direction from the Learning and Development Program Manager and Harvard FCU subject matter experts.
- Delivers and/or coordinates internal trainings at every Harvard FCU location.
- Participates in the Harvard FCU New Hire Orientation.
- Engages with department heads, managers, and staff to understand and aggregate specific skill development needs. Documents current and anticipated training needs.
- Works with L&D Manager to determine re-certifications, upcoming initiatives, and computer skills training.
- Develops an annual training calendar, working with Learning and Development Program Manager to determine topics that will be presented for the upcoming year. Maintains the monthly training schedule and updates as needed.
- Leverages technology as a method for training, both in-person and remotely.
- Tracks all training delivered to employees.
- Works with subject matter experts and/or other training experts to develop tools to measure training effectiveness. Evaluates and makes improvements for internal and external training sessions.
- Coordinates:
- and/or delivers annual training as required by NCUA regulation and/or other laws.
- regular safety training, such as robbery procedures and fire drills at all Harvard FCU locations.
- Registers employees for internal training sessions and tracks employee attendance.
- Monitors the “New Employee Training Plan” for various positions and makes curriculum adjustments as needed.
- Researches and compares features and pricing for on-line credit union training programs, training materials, and videos.
- Networks with training and education professionals.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested by manager.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications are the minimum threshold a candidate must meet in order to be considered for this role.
- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three years of equivalent credit union or other financial or academic institution experience required.
- 3+ years of experience with training design and delivery.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:

- Well organized, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively up and down the organizational chart.
- Experience using an online Learning Management System preferred.
- Proficient with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Highly motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
- Able to collaborate with a team.
- Must be willing and able to travel to all branch locations in the Boston, Cambridge and Somerville areas.
Additional Information
- Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week
- Required to be onsite a minimum 3 days per month, plus additional days based on required onsite training sessions (potentially 1-2 weeks in a given month depending on hiring and other initiatives).

Work Format Details
This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
