Learning Center Director Full Description

Position Summary:      
 YUHSB is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Learning Center Director to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and a commitment to fostering student growth while continuously evaluating the efficacy of the program and implementing best practices in education.This role requires an ability to support students in the learning center, manage learning specialists, and oversee all aspects of the accommodations process.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction in student skills such as time management, organization, and effective studying
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders including students, faculty, and parents
  • Model the appropriate use of technology to enhance and supplement classroom instruction
  • Utilize strategies that develop student engagement and independence
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success
  • Maintain accurate records of student growth and skill development
  • Participate in all IESP meetings and advocate for services on behalf of students and parents
  • Manage the accommodations process by guiding parents through the evaluation process and submitting applications to outside agencies, such as the College Board and ACT
  • Supervise learning center staffParticipate in student team meetings, faculty meetings, professional development, and school events

Experience & Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)Prior teaching experience at the high school level preferred

Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skillsPassion for guiding students to reach their full potential
