Job Summary
Arapahoe Community College’s Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) is seeking a collaborative and creative Learning Designer to join our team. In this role, you’ll partner with faculty and staff to design inclusive, student-centered learning experiences across face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. You’ll play a key role in enhancing teaching and learning by integrating evidence-based practices, innovative technologies, and thoughtful curriculum design—all in support of student success and faculty growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with faculty to design and enhance courses using evidence-based instructional strategies.
- Develop and lead engaging professional development workshops on effective teaching practices.
- Support curriculum alignment and program development in partnership with academic departments.
- Integrate educational technologies to create accessible and dynamic learning environments.
- Contribute to campus-wide initiatives that promote excellence in teaching and learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Instructional Design, Higher Education, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience.
- Adaptable and willing to learn new skills.
- Knowledge of how people learn and its implications for effective teaching practices.
- Knowledge of learning theories, instructional design models, and pedagogical frameworks.
- Familiarity with digital accessibility and Universal Design for Learning.
- Experience designing and developing courses.
- One (1) year of experience using Desire2Learn (D2L) and/or other Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Strong consultation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and solve problems promptly and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a team and adapt in a fast-paced, highly productive environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree, or higher, in Instructional Design, Higher Education, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience teaching within a higher education context.
- Experience working with a diverse faculty and student population.
- Experience designing and facilitating faculty development workshops on a range of evidence-based teaching topics.
- Experience using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA with course content.
- Experience working collaboratively with faculty and instructors to design and develop courses.
- Experience with project management.
- Knowledge of current trends in community college education.
