Learning Experience Designer Full Description
The role:
Weâre seeking a skilled, creative Learning Experience Designer - STEM Editor to curate and produce high-quality science, technology, engineering, and math articles, images, and videos for Newsela.
You bring expertise in STEM writing and editing, a sharp sense of what engages students, the ability to support diverse learners through accessible design, and fluency with curriculum standards and instructional best practices.
In this role, you will curate, edit, and occasionally author student- and teacher-facing STEM content; coordinate freelance writers and editors; and ensure every asset meets our standards for engagement, instructional value, accuracy, and accessibility. Youâll collaborate closely with STEM learning designers, editors, product managers, and software engineers to deliver compelling, standards-aligned materials, and youâll leverage AI tools to streamline ideation, drafting, editing, and quality checks.

Why you're a great fit:
- 3+ years of professional experience in STEM content development for a publisher or educational technology company.
- Published writing and editing experience with a strong preference for prior experience specifically writing or editing STEM content.
- Strong knowledge of science and math standards and STEM instruction
- Experience designing lessons and assessments for various grade levels (K-8 preferred).
- Familiarity with educational publishing standards and instructional technology.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with content authoring tools (e.g., Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Learning Management Systems, and digital curriculum platforms).
- Comfort with and enthusiasm for using AI in the content development process.
Compensation:
- Base compensation range: $62,000 - $70,000 per year.
- Total compensation for this role also includes incentive stock options and benefits.
