Job Description
Summary
The Learning Resource (LR) Tools Specialist is responsible for the successful implementation, configuration, customization, and troubleshooting of learning resource tools utilized within the institution. The specialist will provide technical expertise, user training, support, and engage with education technology LR Tool Engineers and vendors to ensure the effective integration and functionality of LR tools. Additionally, the specialist will manage partnerships with LR tool vendors, conduct quality assurance and testing, and provide documentation and knowledge sharing to enhance the overall learning experience.
Location: This position requires you to work at our headquarters, 4001 South 700 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84107. You would work a hybrid schedule in the office 4 days a week, with one day remote.
Job Duties
- Implements LR tools within the online university environment, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Possesses technical expertise in LR tool configuration and troubleshooting to resolve issues and optimize functionality.
- Provides user training and support for faculty, staff, and students on the effective use of LR tools.
- Customizes and configures LR tools to meet the specific needs and requirements of the institution.
- Engages with education technology LR Tool Engineers to collaborate on enhancements and improvements to LR tool functionality.
- Manages partnerships with LR tool vendors, including communication, negotiation, and collaboration on tool development and support.
- Conducts quality assurance and testing of LR tools to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
- Creates and maintains documentation related to LR tool implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Shares knowledge and best practices with team members and stakeholders to promote effective use of LR tools.
- Provides light project management oversight for LR tool implementation and enhancement projects.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- Strong understanding of learning resource tools commonly used in higher education settings.
- Proficiency in configuring, customizing, and troubleshooting LR tools such as learning management systems, content authoring tools, virtual classrooms, and assessment platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train users and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Ability to engage with education technology LR Tool Engineers and LR tool vendors to drive innovation and resolve technical issues.
- Experience in quality assurance and testing methodologies for LR tools.
- Strong documentation skills to create and maintain technical documentation and user guides.
- Project management skills to oversee LR tool implementation projects and coordinate tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and refining educational programs, courses, and curricula within the higher education sector.
- Understanding of accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices related to program development and institutional compliance.
- Proven ability to design and assess curriculum effectiveness, learning outcomes, and student engagement strategies, particularly within a Competency-based Education model.
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and principles, including instructional design methodologies tailored to adult learners in diverse academic settings.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with academic departments, faculty members, subject matter experts, and instructional designers to develop and deliver high-quality educational programs.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and ensure alignment with departmental goals and objectives.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to inform program development decisions, assess program efficacy, and identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to articulate program objectives, outcomes, and value propositions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to explore innovative approaches to program development, incorporate emerging technologies, and adapt to evolving trends and student needs in higher education.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in implementing and supporting learning resource tools in a higher education environment.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in configuring and troubleshooting LR tools.
- Experience providing user training and support for LR tools.
- Experience with online learning platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and educational technologies used in online and hybrid learning environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Education, Educational Technology, Information Technology, or related field.
- Experience in project management related to LR tool implementations.
- Familiarity with learning analytics and assessment development.
- Previous experience in evaluating and recommending LR tools for adoption.
- Certification in educational technology or related areas.
