Pay Range Information | Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary | The Learning Spaces Technology Manager leads the planning, design and implementation for classroom design and redesign initiatives. Oversee AV projects, including timeline development, resource coordination, and progress tracking, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within established budget parameters. Supervise AV staff and provide advanced technical support for complex system issues. Ensure the ongoing reliability of AV systems through maintenance oversight, training initiatives, and effective inventory management.
Responsibilities | AV Design and Project Management Oversee all phases of project management for assigned initiatives, including timeline development, resource coordination, and progress tracking, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within established budget parameters. Develop comprehensive plans for classroom design and redesign initiatives. Independently author scope of work documents and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), applying specialized expertise in classroom and AV technology to ensure appropriate technology selection. Evaluate and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) in support of project planning efforts. Work with vendors to support project execution. Identify opportunities for cost savings, standardization, and improved service delivery through vendor relationships. Collaborate with Campus Planning, and other offices on AV design portion for new and updated spaces. Oversee, test, and approve vendor installations of AV systems and equipment. Oversee ongoing maintenance of AV systems. Stay abreast of trends and innovations in classroom AV in higher education and advise on their implementation at Chapman. Engage with peers via ETC, Educause, and other professional organizations Supervise AV Systems Engineer, including performance management/evaluation, coaching, project oversight, and skills development Inventory ManagementMaintain accurate and current equipment records, encompassing both the physical management of assets and the administration of the online inventory management system.Training and Technical Support Provide Tier 3 support for classroom AV systems, troubleshooting complex technical issue. Ensure classroom AV systems operate reliably, diagnosing and resolving technical issues. Train faculty in the use of classroom AV equipment and systems; creating documentation and instructional resources to support adoption and best practices.
Required Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree or combination of some college and equivalent work experience. Good communication skills, both written and oral, including communicating with people with a wide range of technical knowledge. Strong proficiency with spreadsheet software and medium-level proficiency with Project Management approaches and systems. Strong organization skills for tracking multiple, critical projects and prioritizing incoming requests Ability to author written and video documentation for AV systems. Ability to work in a team environment that includes architects, planners, project managers, vendors and end users. Ability to read project blueprints Substantial experience working with audio visual equipment and systems, including AV over IP. Knowledge of user interface control capability, configuration and programming. Knowledge of best practices for design and installation of AV systems. Experience installing audio visual systems. Experience with video software and hardware for webcasting and recording academic and special event content. Experience with video conferencing
