Job Description:
The College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA) seeks a forward-thinking Manager for Employer Engagement to join the Academic Strategy and Student Experience Team (ASSET). Under the direction of the Executive Director, this position will develop and implement a college-wide strategy for internships and employer partnerships that expands opportunities for CISA students and strengthens the college's connection to Arizona's workforce and community needs across the East Valley, Downtown Phoenix, and beyond.
The Manager for Employer Engagement serves as the primary architect and relationship lead for CISA's internship initiatives, cultivating ongoing partnerships with employers, industry leaders, and community organizations that align with CISA's diverse degree programs. This position also works closely with the Student Experience and Engagement Team (SEET) and a Community Engagement Coordinator, who manages student-level placements, credit-bearing internship logistics, and compliance processes.
The ideal candidate is a strategic connector who combines partnership management, program design, and data-driven planning skills with a deep understanding of the value of experiential learning in higher education.

Position Salary Range:

Essential Duties:
College-Wide Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and operationalize a comprehensive internship and partnership strategy for CISA, in consultation with the Executive Director and Dean.
- Identify high-value industries and organizations in the East Valley, Downtown Phoenix, and greater Arizona aligned with CISA's academic programs and career pathways. Ensure that CISA's internship strategy also includes ASU Online students by developing remote, hybrid, and geographically distributed opportunities that align with their degree pathways.
- Serve as a representative and ambassador for CISA, effectively communicating the college's strengths and degree offerings to employers, community leaders, and civic partners.
- Build long-term partnerships that support multiple programs and schools within CISA, ensuring pipelines for student experiential learning and career entry.
- Provide strategic recommendations and data insights to ASSET leadership to guide investment in partnership growth and employer engagement.
- Develop and maintain internal systems, calendars, partnership databases, and activity cycles to track employer engagement, internship opportunities, and placement data, in partnership with SEET team members. Work closely with the SEET Community Engagement Coordinator who is responsible for individual student placements, student postings, and compliance workflows.
- Manage program communications, events, and employer-facing activities, in collaboration with the SEET and ASSET teams, that strengthen CISA's external relationships.
- This role serves as a member of the CISA SEET team and will assist with team projects, events, and meetings.
Strategic Partnership Development
- Cultivate and steward partnerships with employers, nonprofits, and community organizations, with a focus on the East Valley and Downtown Phoenix, that align with CISA programs and student career pathways. This role will spend time in the community meeting with employers, industry leaders, and partner organizations.
- Collaborate with ASSET leadership, school directors, and faculty to integrate employer partnerships into academic programs and experiential learning outcomes.
- Collaborates closely with EdPlus, Career Services, Alumni relations, internship coordinators, and faculty leads across schools to build internship pathways for all CISA students.
- Represent CISA in ASU and community forums focused on career development, applied learning, and university-industry collaboration. Leads employer and community engagement events to showcase CISA student talent and strengthen industry relationships.
- Work with CISA Marketing and Communication on strategies to promote internship partnerships and employer success stories.
Program Management and Collaboration
- Coordinate college-wide internship initiatives, ensuring alignment with ASU policies, academic standards, and compliance requirements.
- Oversee data collection and reporting on internship participation, employer engagement, and student outcomes.
- Collaborate with ASSET's Academic Services, Advising, SEET, and Strategic Data teams to support retention, graduation, and employment goals.
- Contribute to cross-college initiatives and task forces related to experiential learning and community engagement.
- Develop systems to ensure ASU Online students have equitable access to internship support.
Assessment and Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate internship outcomes, partner satisfaction, and program effectiveness through surveys, focus groups, and data analysis. Assess participation and success outcomes for immersion and ASU Online student populations.
- Provide regular reports and recommendations to ASSET leadership to enhance program reach and quality.
- Contribute to the college's applied learning and assessment initiatives to strengthen measurable learning outcomes and employer alignment.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education, business, communication, public administration, or related field and three (3) years closely related experience with demonstrated ability to bring concepts from development to successful implementation.
- Demonstrated experience cultivating partnerships between higher education and employers, particularly in the Phoenix metropolitan region.
- Skill in stakeholder management with experience in outreach strategy and presenting to corporate and community audiences.
- Proven success in developing internship or experiential learning programs that serve diverse student populations.
- Experience supervising professional staff or interns.
- Familiarity with systems such as Handshake, Salesforce, or similar CRM/tracking tools for data-informed decision making.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the college professionally in internal and external settings.
- Knowledge of Arizona's economic and workforce development landscape, especially in emerging industries connected to CISA disciplines.
Working Environment:
- Days and Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., evenings and weekends may occasionally be required.
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions; Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, calculator, copier, and associated computer/technology peripherals.
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 25 pounds (5%).
- Hybrid work is an option for CISA employees. Hybrid arrangements allow employees to spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or Provost level approval is required.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
