The Learning and Development (L&D) Manager plays an important leadership role in designing, developing, delivering, maintaining, and enhancing learning solutions for our employees and dealers. The role is responsible for assessing and analyzing learning needs, designing and developing learning solutions, and evaluating the effectiveness of learning programs, with fairness, consistency, and timeliness. The role closely partners with leadership across the organization to address complex L&D issues.
The Learning and Development (L&D) Manager plays an important leadership role in designing, developing, delivering, maintaining, and enhancing learning solutions for our employees and dealers. The role is responsible for assessing and analyzing learning needs, designing and developing learning solutions, and evaluating the effectiveness of learning programs, with fairness, consistency, and timeliness. The role closely partners with leadership across the organization to address complex L&D issues. The role collaborates with key stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) across Ford Credit, including Sales, Operations, Insurance, and Risk, to ensure learning solutions are effective, engaging, relevant, timely, and support business needs. In addition, the role collaborates with Ford Motor Company’s L&D team to maximize alignment and synergies.

The role also manages the maintenance of accurate documentation, monitors industry trends, and recommends areas for improvement. The role has expertise in interpreting and administering the company’s training policies, analyzing trends, and providing guidance to further contribute to fostering a compliant and ethical work environment. The role has limited to full management authority for staffing, performance, discipline, pay decisions, team development, and other personnel actions.

Responsibilities
What you'll do...
  • Manages a team of L&D specialists and coordinates with external vendors to assess development needs, and design and deliver learning solutions for employees to achieve increased team and employee performance and engagement.
  • Distributes and assigns work to L&D team, monitors workload and emerging trends, serves as a primary L&D point of contact, and guides L&D team to ensure efficient provision and timely renewal of training.
  • Oversees testing and piloting of new enterprise-wide learning programs and provides feedback to ensure successful future training deployment initiatives. Guides L&D specialists to monitor and evaluate the progress of trainees and the effectiveness of training.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to develop enterprise-wide learning solutions to drive strategic development goals. Provides guidance and support to leaders in addressing L&D related issues.
  • Coordinates with specialists, people leaders, and employees for appropriate implementation of training schedules, procedures, and policies, whilst ensuring compliance and consistency.
  • Develops, recommends, and makes timely changes to enterprise-wide training systems, policies, programs, and schedules, based on knowledge of identified training needs, industry trends, best practices, business systems, or changes in products, procedures, or services.
  • Manages the development of engaging training materials in various formats such as manuals, eLearning, instructor-led, webinars, experiential learning, and blended learning to meet enterprise needs in alignment with best practices and training trends to maximize engagement and learning retention.
  • Interprets and administers company policies and procedures related to training development, training delivery, and skill gap assessment, and ensures that policies are up-to-date, compliant with relevant laws, communicated effectively to employees, and consistently enforced.
  • Oversees the maintenance of accurate and confidential records and data related to L&D matters. Prepares reports and analytics to monitor L&D trends, training attendance, and program effectiveness. Identifies areas for improvement and shares relevant insights with other relevant functions.
  • Performs talent management responsibilities including performance management, disciplinary action, terminations, recruitment, pay decisions, and other personnel actions for the L&D function.

Qualifications
You'll have...
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred) in Instructional Design or other related discipline

Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience with a Master’s degree or 8 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, in L&D
  • 5+ years of team management experience in a large organization
  • Licenses and Certifications:
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (Preferred)
  • Project Management Professional Certification (Preferred)

Work Requirements:
  • Involves occasional (defined as one-third or less of the time) lifting of no more than 10 pounds at a time. Work is performed primarily in a seated position and entails no significant stooping, standing, climbing, walking, etc. Many sedentary jobs require good use of the hands and fingers for repetitive hand-finger actions. Working conditions occur within low to moderate noise levels related to the use of standard office or classroom equipment.
