General Description:
We are seeking a Manager of Staff Training and Development to join our team. The Manager of Staff Training and Development is responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating training programs to support the professional growth and development of the firm’s managers, business services professionals, and other staff members. This position will work closely with the Director of Training and Development to assess training needs and skills gaps, and to develop and deliver curricula for all staff at the firm, with a strong focus on leadership, management, professional, and interpersonal skills. The position reports to the Director of Training and Development and collaborates closely with professionals within the Human Resources department and leaders of the firm’s business services teams and office and practice support teams.
This position offers a hybrid schedule, allowing flexibility to work from home and the office.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
- Partner with the Business Services Leadership Team and Human Resources professionals to assess training needs and develop a comprehensive training program for managers of our business services and other staff personnel, including new manager orientation and continuous learning opportunities for existing managers.
- Partner with the Human Resources team and the Chief of Office Operations to assess training needs and develop client service and other professional skills training programs for individual contributors on the business services side as well as on the office and legal support side.
- Design and deliver engaging training sessions, workshops, and seminars that enhance the managerial and professional skills of the firm’s staff. Define course objectives. Provide follow-up training support to ensure needs are met.
- Develop and maintain an annual training calendar for staff training.
- Guide trainers and facilitators to ensure effective presentation methods, approaches, and materials.
- Working with training team and leadership, evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and implement any necessary adjustments.
- Assist in evaluating vendor training programs and seminars.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in staff training and development.
- Special projects and duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and training methodologies.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in using training software and tools.
Required Qualifications & Education:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in staff training and development, with a focus on managerial and professional skills training.
- BA degree required; MA/MS degree in a related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications & Education:
- Experience in a professional services environment is strongly preferred; experience in a law firm is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
