As the Manager of Training, you will be Highland’s expert in building the technical, safety, and leadership capabilities of our growing workforce. This role has a direct impact on internal/external training performance, safety compliance, and operational excellence across our electric fleet operations.
You will lead a team of training professionals and collaborate with internal departments, OEMs, and external partners to deliver impactful training programs.
Your work will include designing and managing learning platforms, developing certification and onboarding programs, and creating data-driven development strategies that drive continuous improvement. This role ensures that Highland’s technicians and frontline teams are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and tools to deliver best-in-class service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Highland’s EV most technical vehicle and charger troubleshooting and diagnostics, responding to technician escalated work orders and customer tickets to assist with repairs and issue resolution.
- Conducts system testing and analysis to evaluate performance, reliability, stress, strain, fatigue, noise, and vibration of charger and vehicle components for optimization and improvement.
- Applies expertise in electrical systems (12V-480V, DC, AC, three-phase) and mechanical systems (powertrain, HVAC, fuel, chassis, braking, and steering) to improve safety, reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Analyzes technical issues, determines root causes, and develops solutions by integrating data from multiple sources.
- Develops troubleshooting guides, maintenance protocols, and issue resolution documents to address recurring problems in electric vehicles and chargers.
- Collaborates with OEMs, external vendors, and internal teams to resolve technical challenges, implement new designs.
- Provides leadership on projects that enhance cost-effective maintenance strategies, quality improvements, and overall productivity. Establishes training programs, creating internal campaigns, work standards, and procedures to ensure technicians are well-equipped and safety protocols are followed.
- Utilizes remote diagnostic tools, service portals, and OEM software to support technicians with troubleshooting and programming. Ensures all chargers and vehicles within the Highland portfolio are updated with the latest software revisions.
- Develops and enforces personal protective equipment (PPE) standards, manages Highland’s lock out tag out processes to comply with OEM specifications and industry regulations.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2+ years of medium duty or automotive experience as it relates to training preferred
- Experience leading training or learning and development programs, preferably in a multi-site or field-based environment
- Knowledge of instructional design, eLearning tools, and learning management systems (LMS)Ability to analyze training data and use metrics to drive improvements
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to exercise considerable skill, judgment, and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external customers as well as many company departments
$130,000 - $145,000 a year
