Overview
Seeking a skilled workers' compensation claims and risk professional for a dynamic education sector role managing locations across the US. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary resource for claims reporting, analysis, and insights; coordinating with TPAs and brokers to effectively return employees to work; working with teams to mitigate claims and evaluate risk practices; and developing reports for claims data and risk mitigation. The role includes managing Workers' Compensation Programs, investigating incidents, and collaborating with leadership to ensure compliance.

  • Develop, maintain, and manage the workers' compensation program; establish standards and procedures and implement all matters of the program, including report generation, training and communication with employees, managers, and insurance carriers
  • Administer claims for all monopolistic states with vendors.
  • Investigates accidents and injuries; reviews and processes claims and legal documents; participates in settlement negotiations; recommends loss control strategies; and develops strategies to handle specific cases in consultation with appropriate parties
  • Develop and tailor claim and safety reports to provide insightful claims and risk data
  • Oversee Absence Management
  • Manage relationship with TPA 
  • Monitor data flow to ensure data accuracy among all network
  • Compiles, analyzes, and prepares comprehensive reports for effective management of claims.
  • Generates and analyzes reports from insurance company’s systems and evaluates claim data, determining trends in incidents.
  • Develops, maintains, and analyzes departmental dashboards.
  • Responds to claim handler and internal supervisor requests promptly
  • Functions as the liaison to all WC partners including broker, Human Resources, internal department supervisors, and WC insurance company
  • Assists with quarterly claim review and stewardship meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree and 5 years work experience preferred 
  • Experience with Education preferred but not required
  • Experience with Worker's Compensation or safety incidents in a corporate, carrier, or TPA setting is required. Preference for WC experience in multiple states
  • Assist in the development and execution for health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
  • Evaluate practices and procedures, to assess risk and adherence to the law
  • Ensure compliance with all state and local regulations including written programs, record keeping and billing
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of leave process including FMLA, ADA and oversee claims processing

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and draft relevant policy and procedure
  • Ability to administer policies and procedures for effective Risk Prevention
  • Ability to organize work for timely completion
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to communicate and assist other team members as necessary
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to utilize MS Office based word processing, email communication, and spreadsheet software on a personal computer
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
