THE ROLE

SchoolKit is seeking independent contractors to serve as Math Coaches to support teachers and leaders in Philadelphia schools in grades K-12.  Coach duties include providing coaching and training to instructional support staff aligned to high-quality math instructional materials, specifically IM K-12 Math (TM).

Coaches will use SchoolKit’s tools and approach to help teachers and leaders deepen their knowledge of mathematics and engage in instructional leadership activities (leading teacher planning, conducting observations and providing feedback, responding to student data, etc) to strengthen teaching and learning in their buildings.

Additionally, coaches will facilitate full- and/or half-day training (remote and onsite) for teachers and instructional leaders who are focused on evidence-based practices for instruction in K-12 math. These trainings will focus on high-quality instructional materials so that participants have the tools they need to deliver rigorous instruction to all students. This is not a full-time role.

Coaches will:

  • Provide one-on-one onsite and/or remote coaching sessions with specific role groups including academic leaders, instructional coaches, and teacher leaders
  • Lead instructional coaching visits to Philadelphia schools with small groups of educators
  • Engage in co-visits to math classrooms and PLCs
  • Maintain a regular cadence of professional development and coaching meetings with each of the schools assigned
  • Maintain a regular cadence of checkpoint meetings with all schools assigned to ensure there is alignment
  • Report to a SchoolKit staff member on a regular basis to share updates on their work and receive resources and guidance.

EXPERIENCE

  • 6+ years of experience in the education sector with at least 3 years of this experience in a district, school, or teacher leadership role (department chair, instructional coach, assistant principal, etc)
  • A successful track record of leading instructional initiatives in partnership with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience with implementation of high-quality mathematics instructional materials aligned to college and career-ready standards
  • Knowledge of and experience providing recommendations on the full range of decisions that leaders can make at the school level to improve instruction
  • Knowledge of best practices and experience coaching instructional leaders or teacher leaders
  • Experience with multilingual learners and students in Special Education is a plus but not required
  • A bachelor’s degree, Masters degree in education or related field preferred

LOCATION

Candidates who live near or within commuting distance of Philadelphia will receive preference for this role. Candidates who must fly to Philadelphia will also be considered for the role.

COMPENSATION

This is a 1099 contractor position and candidates who are selected will be independent contractors of SchoolKit. As such, they will be paid $90 - $110 an hour for preparation to coach, remote coaching, and $800 - $1000 per day of onsite coaching or facilitation.  Rates are highly dependent on experience.
