Job Description
KIPP New Jersey is hiring a teacher-leader who will both provide targeted, small-group math instruction and support teachers across our Camden middle school campuses to effectively use AI tools that accelerate student learning. This role is ideal for a high-performing teacher who has demonstrated leadership experience—such as a grade-level lead or instructional coach—and is excited to help shape the future of instructional technology in classrooms. This grant-funded role involves direct student engagement, collaboration with teachers, and piloting innovative math teaching tools and strategies.

Reports to: Head of Schools, KIPP New Jersey – Camden; with direct collaboration with the Director of AI, Innovation, and Strategy from KIPP Team and Family.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Innovation & Student Support
  • Provide small-group math instruction (four periods per day) using AI-powered platforms such as Khanmigo.
  • Support approximately 200-250 middle school students across two campuses in Camden, NJ, ensuring students effectively complete and benefit from AI-driven learning tasks.
  • Analyze student achievement data weekly to adjust instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate with KIPP Team and Family’s Director of AI, Innovation, and Strategy, and Khan Academy’s data science team to evaluate efficacy of tools
  • Monitor and report student engagement, fidelity to programs, and academic progress.
  • Pilot and evaluate innovative math technologies in collaboration with the Head of Schools, KIPP New Jersey – Camden as well as the Director of AI, Innovation, and Strategy and Teaching & Learning leaders from KIPP Team and Family.
Teacher Support & Development
  • Facilitate professional development sessions for teachers on using AI-based math instructional tools.
  • Model best practices in integrating adaptive learning platforms into classroom instruction.
  • Coach and build capacity of teachers to leverage data effectively for differentiated instruction and instructional efficiency.
  • Provide ongoing, structured feedback and support to teachers, building their confidence in technology integration.
Cross-Campus Collaboration
  • Work closely with Assistant Principals and instructional leaders to advise on effective technology integration and instructional strategies.
  • Document and share exemplary practices for broader implementation.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably with a math background.
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience with demonstrated student achievement.
  • Experience facilitating professional development or instructional coaching.
  • Proficiency in instructional technologies and data-informed instruction.

SKILLS
  • Proven effectiveness in integrating instructional technology.
  • Strong analytical skills and fluency in interpreting student achievement data.
  • Effective facilitator of professional learning for educators.

ABILITIES
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt to and master emerging educational technologies.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build trust and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Regular travel between schools within Camden is required.
  • Ability to perform standard classroom instructional tasks.

Compensation & Benefits
The salary for the Math Instructional Innovation Fellow role is $85,000-$105,000, based on relevant experience. This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2026. Continuation beyond this date is contingent upon funding availability, achieved outcomes, and organizational needs.
