MDM and Lab Operations Specialist Full Description

Job Description

The MDM and Lab Operations Specialist, reporting to the AAD Director of IT, will manage the college’s endpoint environment and provide hands-on technical support across the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design’s computer labs. This role combines endpoint and mobile device management — using Microsoft Intune, HCL BigFix, and JAMF — with direct operational support for student computing labs serving the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design.

The specialist will serve as the college’s primary resource for device configuration, deployment, and compliance across managed platforms, while also maintaining physical lab environments to ensure hardware, software, and peripherals are operational and available for instructional use. As the college’s lab footprint expands, this position will take on additional lab environments as they come under AAD IT management.

This position will be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement of up to one day of remote work every week following a fully onsite onboarding period (estimated to be 180 days) to support successful training and transition.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems

Experience installing, operating, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software

Experience with endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune, HCL BigFix, or JAMF

Experience with Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) environments

Ability to interface with end users over the telephone, via email, or in person

Good interpersonal, customer support, verbal, and technical writing skills tailored to the intended audience

Ability to manage multiple issues and prioritize based on level of urgency

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft Intune device enrollment and policy management

Experience with HCL BigFix for endpoint management and patch deployment

Experience with JAMF for macOS device management

Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow

Experience working with computers in an Active Directory/Group Policy environment

Experience with specialized software used in architecture, art, and design disciplines
