Job SummaryIn cooperation with college leadership, the Associate Dean of Advising has the responsibility for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, programs, and services that integrate and enhance academic advising and transfer services at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. This essential role encompasses collaborating with faculty, staff, Deans, Provost, and the President for continuous area improvement.
Job Duties:• Provide strategic leadership to the academic advising team in alignment with the mission and goals of the college and KCTCS, collaborating with other college administrators to promote student success.
• Foster a student-centered advising culture through strong communication, team leadership, and consensus building, while developing long-term plans and team goals aligned with the college's strategic plan.
• Oversee staff supervision, including hiring recommendations, coaching, training, evaluations, and support for ongoing professional development.
• Coordinate and deliver college-wide advising professional development initiatives, including training for new advisors and the annual Advising Technology Summit.
• Develop and manage enrollment and yield strategies to achieve college enrollment goals, including assigning advisors to new students and coordinating with faculty and academic leadership.
• Oversee the advising schedule for new students and manage outbound communications to admitted students regarding enrollment and registration.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders—including the Associate Dean of Dual Credit, Regional Campus Directors, and the Director of Career Services—to ensure coordinated advising, career services, and seamless dual credit student transitions.
• Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Success & Retention to analyze institutional data and implement initiatives that enhance student retention, enrollment, and overall success.
• Provide college leadership with relevant data reports related to advising appointments, enrollment trends, retention efforts, and transfer initiatives.
• Participate in college/system-wide committees, professional organizations, grant development, and other organizational or professional development activities as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree, two years of management or supervisory experience required and a minimum three years of experience in job family.
Preferred Qualifications:Masters Degree, four years of management or supervisory experience required and minimum 5 years of experience in job family.
