MHA Graduate Program Coordinator
Location: Boone, North Carolina
Department: Nutrition & Health Care Management

Position Summary
The Appalachian State University online Master of Health Administration (MHA) program educates and prepares working health care managers and administrative professionals to provide competent leadership in their organizations and communities. This three-quarter-time Program Coordinator supports the marketing, recruitment, and administrative functions of the program. At least 60% of the position focuses on engaging in and being uniquely supportive of student success, retention, and coordination of academic-support activities.

Marketing and Recruitment (35%)
  • Manage marketing, outreach, and recruitment activities for the MHA program to support enrollment growth and applicant quality goals
  • Represent the MHA program at Health Care Career events
  • Lead and coordinate recruitment events, information sessions, career fairs, and regional outreach activities, and support the program’s marketing plan
  • Coordinate with the Graduate School on recruitment events and information sessions
Student Advising, Program Planning, and Grad School Coordination (65%)
  • Coordinate with the Graduate School on recruitment initiatives and oversee timely communication through the admissions process
  • Serve as a primary resource for prospective students on admission requirements, curriculum, prerequisites, and enrollment processes
  • Participate in applicant review and selection for admission to the program
  • Work with the Program Director to plan and coordinate program events, including orientation sessions, annual student meetings, and advisory board meetings
  • Support prospective and enrolled students by troubleshooting administrative, admission, registration, and program-related issues
  • Provide academic advising to enrolled students to ensure compliance with program, college, and university requirements
  • Compile and monitor student credit-hour production, enrollment trends, and student outcomes

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, business administration, or a related area, with at least 2 years of related professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in health care management and administration, business administration, or a related area.

Position Details
  • ¾-time (0.75 FTE) Staff/Non-Faculty position, 12 months per year
  • Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8am - 5pm
  • 30 hours per week
  • Suggested Salary Range: $40,170-$46,238 (3/4-time position salary)
