Section 1 – Position Summary
 
This position is responsible for coordinating and delivering a comprehensive technical training program in support of our water or wastewater operations staff to support the growth, development, and promotion of our staff.  
 
Section 2 – Major Responsibilities
 
  1. Conduct field work with operators to ensure standard operating procedures for conveyance and treatment plant operations are current and accurate.
  2. Provide training support to operations supervisory staff.
  3. Support core competency development by assessing the technical needs of operations staff, and implementing training programs to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet position qualifications.
  4. Coordinate annual scheduling and tracking of internal training calendars.
  5. Coordinate with other departments to provide training and ensure management concur with training goals and objectives.
  6. Coordinate the Safety and Emergency Management activities and training for operations.
  7. Conduct and coordinate internal CEU training classes for NTMWD operations.
  8. Assist with the implementation and upkeep of data analyses mechanisms for process optimization.
  9. Help operators prepare for licensing and certification.
  10. Coordinate with consultants and vendors to develop operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals and ensure O&M manuals are current.
  11. Schedule/coordinate external training vendors as necessary.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Section 3 – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
 
  1. Knowledge of existing industry training resources.
  2. Must possess a strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to water/wastewater treatment and conveyance regulations.
  3. Must communicate training materials, make verbal presentations, and provide honest, tactful feedback.
  4. Understanding of training methodologies including instructor led training, standard operating procedures, eLearning, and field guides.
  5. Proficiency in preparing technical reports, maintaining accurate records, data management, word processing, project management, computerized maintenance management software.

Section 4 – Education and Experience
 
  1. Five (5) years of experience in water-wastewater operations. (Credit given for college courses.)
  2. Must possess or obtain certification as a Certified TCEQ CEU instructor within one (1) year.
  3. Experience with reading construction plans and manufacturer O&M manuals.
  4. Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (or predecessor agency) Class B Water-Wastewater Treatment Operator's License required, Class A preferred.
  5. Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  6. Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.
