JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Penn State College of Medicine Office of Health Advancement & Community Engagement (OHACE) seeks a part-time Graduate Assistant (Administrative Support) position to support pathway programs, student engagement, community outreach, event coordination, and program evaluation. This position is approximately 10 hours per week and is ideal for a current graduate student, preferably in the DrPH program, with a strong interest in advancing equity, opportunity, and community engagement in academic medicine. This is an in-person position at the College of Medicine in Hershey, PA.

The selected candidate will work closely with the Director of Pathway Programs and designated OHACE staff to help coordinate programming, engage students and volunteers, and support ongoing assessment and reporting efforts.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support implementation and evaluation of the Promoting Interest in Science & Medicine (PRISM) program.
  • Assist with interactive sessions for pathway program participants, including facilitation, panel participation, and presentations related to public health.
  • Help identify and invite College of Medicine and Penn State Health volunteers and speakers for pathway and engagement programs.
  • Assist with on-site program support, participant engagement, and in-person coverage for pathway programs as needed.
  • Assist with analyzing participant and volunteer feedback data and preparing summary reports.
Student Engagement Responsibilities
  • Assist with student engagement activities, meetings, and other opportunities across College of Medicine student programs.
  • Support communications and outreach to student groups and organizations.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support OHACE seminars, workshops, events, and educational activities.
  • Assist with communications, student participation lists, surveys, metrics, and feedback review.
  • Assist with funding searches and grant proposal materials under staff guidance.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and related office activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
