Overview:
The Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) is seeking a motivated part-time Marketing & Communications Coordinator who will assist in expanding the awareness and impact of the UWLP and “A Bolder Way Forward.” This includes sharing research, resources, and events with a wider audience. This person will fulfill various aspects of the communications strategy including, but not limited to, social media content, public relations, and marketing materials. The ideal candidate has strong writing and other communication skills and is tech-savvy and proficient with various content creation and analytics tools.
This position is eligible for primarily telework within the state of Utah. However, occasional in-person meetings and events at various locations along the Wasatch Front are required, potentially up to a couple times a month.
Responsibilities:
Graphic Design & Media Production - 30%
- Creates and designs marketing materials such as brochures, folders, pull-up banners, posters, event and promotional activities, and year-end reports.
- Produces resources such as infographics, handouts, and other materials.
- Documents events via video and photography, as needed.
- Edits videos and photos for use, as needed.
Social Media – 30%
- Assists with planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring social media marketing strategies to expand awareness of UWLP/BWF research, resources, and events with a wider audience.
- Owns day-to-day social marketing and engagement activities, including the creation and execution of a content calendar and execution of large-scale engagement campaigns.
- Assists with the production, editing, and use of digital media and graphics.
- Helps evaluate the success of social media campaigns, posts, and performance.
- Supervises student interns and coordinates with other college and departmental social media managers, as needed.
Public Relations – 20%
- Maintains a comprehensive list of news media and community communication mediums.
- Conducts media relations efforts and establishes and maintains relationships with key media personnel across the state.
- After the UWLP Research Manager crafted press releases, correctly interpret and convey research findings in a shorter version to be emailed directly to media sources.
- Assists in the development of communication plans that support the UWLP’s initiatives and strategies, and coordinates and executes upon plans.
- Assists in the development, marketing, and implementation of special events and promotional activities.
- Helps with and/or attends events as a partner in-person at various locations along the Wasatch Front.
Other – 10%
- If needed, assist the Program Assistant in scheduling podcast guests, drafting podcast scripts and questions, and overseeing podcast recording schedule.
- Assists with blog post content, creation, and posting.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field; and three or more years of professional experience in related field.
- Experience managing news and media relations and tracking placements.
- Experience with online media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
- Proven results executing social media marketing campaigns.
- Experience maintaining media contact lists and calendars, coordinating and scheduling press outreach, and managing the timing and distribution of press releases and media engagements.
- Comfort with Adobe Creative Suite tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Experience using video and audio editing tools.
- Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising social campaigns and content that engage, inform, and motivate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to perform content moderation in a professional way.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail along with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as be self-driven to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of multimedia production, programming, and editing from inception to completion.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the elements and principles of design.
- A willingness to learn techniques for making digital content accessible.
- Knowledge of women’s groups, interests, and topics in Utah.
- Knowledge of journalism, marketing, and branding principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of design for print publication, including crop and bleed, resolution, and color requirements.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design.
- Ability to create, design, and produce materials using a range of media, methods, techniques, and equipment.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Advanced ability to write, edit, and refine content for multiple platforms, including press materials, social media content, and cross-channel communications.
- An understanding of various social media platforms, how to use them, and what audience is likely to be reached on them.
- Knowledge of accessibility requirements and how to meet them.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.
