JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The HUB-Robeson Center/Schwab Auditorium is looking for students to join the Production Support Staff.

The Production Support Staff plays a crucial role in the preparation and execution of live events in Schwab Auditorium and across multiple venues in the HUB-Robeson Center. This position helps to provide customers with a high-quality production experience while upholding venue and event standards, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Event setup, teardown, and changeover

  • Programming and live operation of lighting/sound/video equipment

  • Managing performers and maintaining backstage and onstage functions

  • Troubleshooting technical and event-related problems as they arise

  • Implementing and overseeing safety best practices

  • Carrying out and enforcing venue/event policies and procedures

  • Serving as a point-of-contact for event organizers, performers, and patrons

  • Overseeing the building and acting as a venue representative during rehearsals

  • Assisting with additional production/technical duties as needed

Successful candidates must be current Penn State students who have or wish to develop excellent problem-solving and leadership skills; possess a desire to work as a part of a team, maintain a positive attitude, and exhibit the ability to quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment. Previous events/technical experience helpful but not required. Some physical labor and occasional lifting may be necessary.

This is a flexible, part-time position. Scheduling for work is dependent on student availability and event needs. Hours may vary throughout the semester. Must be available to work nights and weekends.
