JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Berks Office of Strategic Communications is seeking applicants for part-time job of Marketing/Communications Specialist.
The Marketing/Communications Specialist employs a variety of marketing, communications, and public relations strategies; researches and translates various forms of subject matter to produce content for fact sheets, brochures, articles, newsletters, digital signage, social media, and other internal or external communications; participates in the planning of marketing and/or communications strategy; creates, conceptualizes, edits, implements, and enhances communications and content including website, advertisements, articles, and social media.

Job Duties

  • Fact checking information submitted for news releases and other promotional materials (names, titles, contact info).
  • Enter news articles and supporting graphics into Penn State news database.
  • Maintain list of media contacts and send news releases.
  • Keep track of news of the college and other colleges in Berks.
  • Keep a log of all press coverage for monthly publicity emails.
  • Work to translate copy for promotional materials from Spanish to English.*
  • Maintain log of submitted projects and due dates.
  • Keep Crisis Communication Plan up to date with staffing changes.
  • Help maintain social media calendar and create posts.
  • Provide logistical support for photo shoots, video shoots, etc.

Schedule: 20 hours per week
Compensation: The starting rate for this job is $20.00 per hour.
 
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCESEmployment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
