Position Description:  | Washtenaw Community College is seeking a qualified Part Time Trainer – Data Analytics to deliver short-term, noncredit data analytics training in a face-to-face instructional format. This role will serve as a subject matter expert and trainer for the data analytics portion of a workforce training pathway that may be paired with a separate bookkeeping training component. The trainer will deliver existing WCC-developed Data Analytics Technician Training materials and provide practical instruction in topics such as data literacy, spreadsheet-based data analysis, data organization, data cleaning, formulas and functions, pivot tables, charts, dashboards, reporting, data visualization, and using data to support business decision-making. The trainer will help students build applied data skills that can be used in business, office, accounting support, administrative, workforce, and related entry-level roles.

Position Summary:The Part Time Trainer – Data Analytics is responsible for delivering short-term, noncredit data analytics instruction using existing WCC-developed course materials. This role will focus on the face-to-face delivery of data analytics training and will support student learning through classroom instruction, demonstrations, hands-on practice activities, applied exercises, and skills-based review. The trainer will work with Corporate Training & Lifelong Learning to deliver course content, support students during class sessions, communicate instructional needs, provide feedback on course materials, and help ensure that students understand how data analytics skills apply to real-world workplace settings. The role is focused on the data analytics training component and does not include responsibility for developing or delivering the bookkeeping portion of the combined training pathway.

Essential Duties include: Serve as the subject matter expert and trainer for Data Analytics course content. Deliver short-term, noncredit workforce training in a face-to-face instructional format using existing WCC-developed data analytics training materials. Provide instruction on foundational data analytics concepts, including data literacy, data organization, data cleaning, spreadsheet analysis, formulas and functions, pivot tables, charts, dashboards, reporting, and data visualization. Teach students how to use data to identify patterns, summarize information, communicate findings, and support business decision-making. Facilitate hands-on learning activities, demonstrations, guided practice, applied exercises, review sessions, and skills-based assignments. Use business scenarios, sample datasets, spreadsheet exercises, reporting examples, and applied projects to support student learning. Help students understand how data analytics skills apply to workplace roles in business operations, office administration, accounting/bookkeeping support, data reporting, workforce analytics, and related fields. Support students with varying levels of prior experience in data analytics, spreadsheets, business technology, and computer-based learning. Communicate course expectations, learning outcomes, technology requirements, assignment expectations, and completion requirements clearly to students. Provide feedback to students to support skill development and successful course completion. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment for adult learners, workforce training participants, career changers, and entry-level students. Communicate classroom, technology, software, course material, and student support needs to Corporate Training & Lifelong Learning staff. Review existing course materials and provide feedback or recommendations for improvement based on student needs, course delivery experience, and workforce expectations. Coordinate with Corporate Training & Lifelong Learning staff regarding course delivery, scheduling, materials, software access, classroom needs, and student support. Follow WCC policies, procedures, and expectations for part-time trainers. Other duties as assigned   
Related Duties:
 Recommend updates to instructional examples, datasets, exercises, demonstrations, and course resources as needed. Provide input on course delivery format, instructional flow, classroom technology needs, and future course improvements. Support alignment between data analytics instruction and related workforce training pathways, including a separate bookkeeping training component as appropriate. Communicate any issues with course materials, software access, student readiness, or classroom technology before or during course delivery. May assist with course improvement feedback after course offerings.  May support future course enhancements based on student needs, workforce demand, employer feedback, and industry trends.
 
Hours/Schedule: This is a part-time training assignment scheduled based on course offerings, course development needs, and department needs. Work Environment: Instruction will primarily take place in a standard classroom or computer lab with an instructor station, projector or classroom display, internet access, and seating for students. The course may require access to computers, spreadsheet software, data files, sample datasets, digital instructional materials, and other classroom technology needed for hands-on data analytics instruction. Physical Demands: The position generally requires the ability to teach in a classroom or computer lab setting, operate instructional technology, stand or walk during instruction, communicate clearly with students, and support students while they complete computer-based learning activities. The trainer may occasionally need to transport, set up, or handle printed materials, classroom resources, or lightweight instructional equipment

Minimum Qualifications:  | Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of data analytics concepts, spreadsheet-based analysis, data organization, reporting, and business decision-making.  Experience using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or similar spreadsheet tools for data organization, formulas, functions, charts, pivot tables, dashboards, and reporting. Ability to deliver existing WCC-developed data analytics training materials in a clear, practical, and engaging face-to-face instructional format. Ability to teach foundational data analytics concepts to students with varying levels of prior experience. Ability to facilitate hands-on learning activities, demonstrations, applied exercises, and skills-based practice. Ability to connect data analytics skills to real-world workplace applications in business operations, office administration, accounting/bookkeeping support, reporting, workforce analytics, and related roles. Strong communication, organization, and training facilitation skills. Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment. Basic computer skills and ability to use classroom technology, digital instructional materials, spreadsheet tools, and internet-based resources.  Ability to work collaboratively with WCC staff regarding course delivery, scheduling, materials, software access, and student support.
Preferred Qualifications:  | Additional Preferred Qualifications: Prior teaching, training, coaching, or instructional experience. Experience teaching or training adult learners, noncredit students, workforce training participants, career changers, or entry-level learners. Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization/business intelligence tools. Experience developing or adapting workforce training curriculum, instructional materials, assessments, datasets, or learning activities. Experience working in data analytics, business operations, accounting support, office administration, finance, workforce reporting, or a related field. Experience helping learners apply data skills to business, financial, administrative, or workforce-related scenarios. Knowledge of current data analytics tools, business technology trends, and employer expectations for entry-level data-related roles.
