The Payroll Accounting Specialist I supports payroll, accounting, and compliance activities by ensuring accurate financial processing and adherence to regulatory requirements. This role collaborates closely with Payroll, Human Resources, Accounting, and external agencies to maintain accurate records and support audits and reporting processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the reconciliation of bank statements to the General Ledger (GL) to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Process imputed income in accordance with established policies, ensuring proper taxation and documentation.
- Support stipend payments for International Athletes, including assistance with IRS Form 1042-S reporting and related compliance requirements.
- Manage payroll-related requests submitted through Workday, including entering and maintaining employee tax registrations in ADP and registering the organization with new tax jurisdictions as needed.
- Process incoming payroll mail, ensuring timely routing, documentation, and follow-up as required.
- Upload, track, and respond to agency notices and tax filing profile change notices within ADP, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Process W‑2c corrections as needed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Assist with 1099 and W‑2 review processes.
- Generate monthly payroll reports and provide information to internal stakeholders as needed.
- Assist with gathering data and documentation for internal and external audits, quarterly reconciliations, and year-end payroll and accounting processes.
- Maintain accurate payroll and accounting records and provide support to cross-functional teams to ensure consistent compliance and operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
- 1 to 2 years of Payroll Accounting experience.
- Ability to obtain Fundamental Payroll Certification within a year of start date (LU funded).
- Experience with Microsoft Excel.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification.
- Experience with Workday and ADP systems.
