Job Summary
Career Exploration and Development is seeking to hire three (3) Generalist Peer Career Advisors (PCA) to serve as front-line ambassadors, helping to expand CED’s visibility and accessibility across campus. The PCA will provide peer-to-peer support, promote CED resources, and actively contribute to programming that aligns with our mission of equity, professionalism, and student-centered service.

This role is ideal for students seeking a meaningful, year-long campus job that fosters personal growth, professional skill development, and the opportunity to support their peers in career exploration and readiness.
Responsibilities
1. Peer Support Advising
  • Provide general peer advising during scheduled hours (resume and cover letter reviews, CED resource navigation, Handshake support, etc.
  • Maintain a regular weekly schedule, ensuring coverage across standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM)

2. Campus Engagement and Outreach
  • Table at key campus locations (Wilder Hall, Science Center, Living Learning Communities) to promote events and resources
  • Assist with and attend CED events, workshops, and panels to engage the broader student body

3. Project Work and Resource Development
  • Support career advisors with assignments that may include event planning, data entry, marketing efforts, and program development
  • Collaborate on materials that promote equity, access, and inclusion in the career development process.

4. Professional Development & Training
  • Attend PCA team meetings and training sessions as needed
  • Receive mentorship and coaching from CED staff, with progress tracked against learning outcomes and NACE career readiness competencies

5. Accountability & Supervision
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects with professionalism and timeliness
  • Utilize the established tracking system to monitor progress and reflect on outcomes
  • Report to designated CED career advisors for guidance and performance evaluation

Expectations:
  • Participate in team meetings or check-ins 
  • Maintain active communication with supervisor and hiring managers
  • Respond to peer inquiries and support needs in a timely, respectful, and inclusive manner
Qualifications
  • Research and data analysis skills preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Interest in supporting peers and enhancing career development equity
  • Comfortable engaging with students in both in-person and virtual settings
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles
  • Familiarity with Handshake, Google Suite, and Canva is a plus
  • First-year students are welcome to apply
