Performing Arts Program Manager Full Description

Job Description

The Performing Arts Program Manager is the primary administrator of performing arts program-related logistics for the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech and serves as a key liaison for the center with artists and their professional management representatives. The Performing Arts Program Manager is responsible for contract document execution, clear and comprehensive communications in advance of artist visits, and providing highly professional, supportive, and welcoming visiting artist guest services logistics. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, use good judgement, exercise prudent decision making, and imaginatively solve problems is required. Must be willing to work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in arts, hospitality, theater management, communications, business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Progressively responsible professional experience at an arts organization or in a similar cultural or event-based environment.

Experience interacting professionally with a wide variety of stakeholders in a collaborative team, project, or event-based environment.

Experience coordinating projects and/or events including management of timelines, deliverables, documentation, and budgets.

Experience leading and/or supervising the work of full or part-time staff, students, or volunteers.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an arts-related field.

Professional experience at a major presenting organization within an institution of higher education.

Experience with public engagement and community outreach.

Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime
