How you'll contribute to our mission
Frontline Education is at a pivotal moment in how we use and think about data. As a Principal Data Engineer on our Enterprise Applications team, you will play a key role in shaping how data is structured, trusted, and used across the organization.
This role goes beyond building pipelines. You will help create a connected, reliable data foundation that supports better decisions, stronger products, and new ways of working. Your work will directly influence how teams access insights, how systems interact, and how we responsibly unlock the potential of data to better serve educators and the communities they support.
You will operate at the intersection of architecture and execution, building solutions while helping define what great looks like for data across Frontline.
How you'll drive success
You will lead through hands-on contribution and thoughtful influence, helping evolve an existing data ecosystem into something more unified, scalable, and dependable.
• Build and evolve core components of our cloud-based data platform, improving how data is ingested, transformed, and accessed
• Establish consistent patterns that increase reliability, performance, and ease of use across systems
• Align data across enterprise applications, reducing fragmentation and improving consistency in how data is defined and consumed
• Design models that support clear, shared understanding of business metrics across teams
• Contribute to a unified layer that enables accurate reporting and meaningful insights
• Partner with leaders and teams to translate long-term data vision into practical, scalable solutions
• Ensure data is structured and accessible in ways that support intelligent systems and evolving product capabilities
• Collaborate across product, finance, and operations to solve complex challenges and improve how data is used day to day
Success in this role means teams trust the data they use, systems work together more seamlessly, and new initiatives are enabled rather than blocked by data limitations.
What you bring to help us grow
• Deep experience building and evolving data platforms in complex environments
• Strong understanding of how to design data structures that support consistent and meaningful insights
• Experience working within cloud-based ecosystems and modern data tooling
• A track record of improving reliability, scalability, and usability of data systems
• Ability to navigate and bring clarity to environments that are still evolving or lack defined structure
• Experience connecting and aligning data across multiple systems or business domains
• Comfort working across technical and non-technical teams to drive shared outcomes
What you'll need to thrive
• A builder’s mindset with a willingness to shape both systems and direction
• Curiosity about how data can better support people, decisions, and outcomes
• Comfort leading through influence, even without direct authority
• Ability to simplify complex challenges into practical, scalable approaches
• A collaborative approach that values shared understanding and collective progress
• Thoughtful use of technology, balancing innovation with reliability and trust
