Job Description:
The Public Service Academy (PSA) at Arizona State University advances a bold mission through its Next Generation Service Corps (NGSC): to develop adaptive, collaborative leaders of character who cross sectors, connect networks, and ignite impact to address local and global challenges. Central to this mission is building a strong pipeline of emerging public service leaders prepared to contribute meaningfully across government, nonprofit, civic, social and human services, and education sectors.
NGSC is seeking a program coordinator to support this work through a one-year, project-based role (January 2026-December 2026) focused on Principled Innovation (PI). The program coordinator will bring initiative, energy, organization, and excellent research and writing skills to lead a comprehensive redesign of the NGSC Leadership Model using the PI framework. This effort will help ensure NGSC not only prepares students for professional success, but also cultivates lives of meaning and purpose - reflecting the belief that universities must serve as "crucibles of character" (Crow & Cross, 2024). In this spirit, the program coordinator's work will strengthen NGSC's commitment to character formation by creating opportunities for students to wrestle with moral identity, practice ethical and innovative decision-making, and collaborate across differences.
This role reports to the Director and is part of a collaborative, mission-driven team. The program coordinator will lead the refinement of the leadership development model, develop a logic model, and establish assessment measures. They will engage in reflection, dialogue, and ethical inquiry while guiding the design and testing of new tools; gathering national leadership frameworks; mapping existing practices; prototyping and collecting feedback from students, staff, instructors, and community partners; and supporting implementation within NGSC courses and program components.
Key areas of responsibility include research and discovery, data analysis, group facilitation, report development, and the creation of new tools that can be implemented across the NGSC program and its courses.
Short-term success will be demonstrated through thoughtful documentation of learning and iteration, and evidence that decision-making and collaboration reflect PI principles. Long-term success includes the creation of new assessment measures that evaluate growth in students' character assets and leadership competencies and offering a sustainable pathway for integrating Principled Innovation into NGSC's programmatic and teaching practices.
The program coordinator will join a team that values creativity, collaboration, service to students and the broader community, and the joy that comes from working with purpose and the vision of the ASU Charter at the center.
