Position Overview
We're seeking an innovative and experienced Product Management Director to lead AI-related and other strategic initiatives, driving excellence in product management and innovation across our product portfolio. This role combines deep technical expertise with product management acumen, delivery excellence, and a coaching mindset to accelerate transformation initiatives, key growth programs, and capability building across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Product Leadership
- Embed into business units to develop customer-centric roadmaps and compelling business cases
- Coach teams to develop high-quality MRDs, PRDs, and refine complex work into shippable increments
- Help teams define winning product strategies and navigate ambiguity through rigorous user-centric discovery
- Lead rapid product builds with design and engineering teams, delivering features through agile methodologies
AI & Technical Innovation
- Drive AI product strategy and deliver breakthrough genAI innovations (LLMs, partnerships, acquisitions)
- Coach teams to adopt MVP mindset for rapid experimentation and market validation
- Lead complex technical problem-solving and integration planning across product and engineering organizations
Product Excellence
- Execute player-coach model: hands-on product building while developing team capabilities
- Drive targeted interventions with practitioner credibility, championing high-impact delivery practices
- Lead technology/product training initiatives and foster vibrant communities of practice
Strategic Initiatives
- Own roadmap excellence and technical strategy development across multiple business units
- Independently drive cross-functional initiatives spanning design, engineering, and business teams
- Lead innovation pipeline and strategic partnerships in AI/emerging technologies
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of product management experience with demonstrable AI/ML expertise
- Strong technical background in software engineering or related disciplines
- Proven track record shipping complex technical products and leading engineering partnerships
- Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, particularly generative AI and agentic systems
- Experience building product prototypes and technical roadmaps from concept to market
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful experience with startups, acquisitions, or large-scale innovation initiatives
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
- Domain expertise in learning technologies and educational product development
- Entrepreneurial experience in high-growth or startup environments
- Strong analytical capabilities and systems thinking approach to complex technical challenges

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Vermont, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
The minimum full-time salary range is between
$225,000 - $260,000 - This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program, and information on benefits offered is
here .
