Product Manager, Data Technology Full Description

What We’re Looking For:

The Product Manager ensures that team efforts are aligned with company and product strategies by leveraging company frameworks such as OKRs/OGSPs. This role will execute that business strategy using effective prioritization, documentation, communication, and leadership and will work cross-functionally with  peers and leaders to ensure alignment of vision, and proper delivery of projects. This role is data-driven and customer-focused, setting project based KPIs, and utilizing the knowledge of the customer to inform strategy and execution.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Determines and communicates team priorities in alignment with overall company goals and strategy. Drives the execution of all processes in the product life cycle, including product and market research, customer analysis, planning, requirements and roadmap development, product launch and product lifecycle management.
  • Drives well-framed and unambiguous product initiatives independently.
  • Leads cross-functional team of engineers and designers in execution of team priorities and release of products, and balances resources to ensure success for the entire organization. Sets and tracks team- and project-based success metrics and utilizes data to inform product priorities and initiatives.
  • Develop feedback loops from users through interviews, surveys, and other methods, for continuous improvement.
  • Works with manager to author  product planning documents, such as an Approach memo, that considers business context, user feedback, and potential impact to the business through measurable behaviors
  • Independently engages organizational stakeholders in support of team priorities.
  • Facilitates communication, addresses concerns, and helps resolve stakeholder issues.
  • Utilizes industry and customer research, as well as software familiarity, to develop expertise in their domain.  

Things That Should Be In Your Background:

  • 2-5+ years of product management experience 
    • This role requires a working knowledge of product management in a software development setting. We expect this individual to be able to operate without up-front training.
  • Experience building and owning a product roadmap
  • Structured and data-driven thinking with a strong bias to action
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Informal leadership: Provide guidance and support to team members; opportunity to mentor other product managers
  • Strong empathy and intuition for our learners and customers
  • Experience with agile software development
  • Desire to improve access to education around the world
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts

While this position is open to remote candidates across the U.S., we will prioritize those who live in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and who are available to come into our Headquarters in Arlington, VA two to three days a week.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is ($106,000 - $125,000), with potential bonus eligibility.  Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, budget for the position and cost of labor in the market in which the candidate will be hired.
