Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The Program Coordinator for Upward Bound performs professional duties in a student services program. The program coordinator will be responsible for management of personnel, program design, development and implementation, data collection, analysis, and reporting. Assists with providing financial aid, student advisement, counseling, registration, admissions, housing and other services to program students. The program coordinator reports to the Program Director. Position is contingent upon continued grant funding. Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those facing project participants and experience with federal TRIO programs, academic support programs, or similar programs for disadvantaged students preferred.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials |
Preferred Qualifications | Experience in the areas of personnel supervision and evaluation, budget development and monitoring expenditures, program development, and evaluation; and reporting and compliance with federal regulations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Experience with federal Trio programs, academic support programs, or similar programs for disadvantaged students. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and the public
Job Duties
Job Duty | Assists with the design, development and implementation of the Upward Bound Program, including coordinating and planning both academic year and summer programming. Recommends changes to policies and procedures to improve program services. Establishes policies and procedures in conjunction with institutional management. Develops long-range plans and objectives for program. Develops and maintains confidential records and reports with accurate documentation of student eligibility, program activity and academic results. Assists with inputting data into student database.

Percentage of Time | 35Job Duty | Recruits, processes applications, interviews and evaluates prospective high school student participants and their families, coaches and monitors the Upward Bound student participants and assists with the services resulting in their retention, academic success and high school graduation and preparing them for entry into post-secondary education.
