Essential Job Functions | This position works closely with senior volunteers, senior centers, nursing and residential care facilities, and the Department of Social Services.
Successful applicant will assist with a University grant-sponsored program of considerable scope and complexity, requiring specialized knowledge of the program and the associated processes and procedures. The Program Assistant serves as an assistant manager with program authority to help oversee all operations and services provided by staff and assists leadership managing daily operations; human resources management and staff development; program policy and procedure design and implementation; and associated business functions, Work also includes marketing the program and defending program goals and objectives before the governing body. Training will be provided and the contract is renewable on an annual basis.
This person typically works three days a week though more may be needed during certain times. This person will be responsible to process a minimum of 35 timesheets for the volunteers each month and apply policies & procedures; timesheets are prepared on a set schedule for Appalachian State University to produce the checks on time. Reports will be maintained monthly regarding timesheets.
This position will assist with prepare training materials/manuals and other documents in preparation of training new volunteers and for the monthly in-service training held in four of the five counties the program serves. Maintenance of volunteer files, preparation of monthly financial spreadsheets and managing documents for semi-annual reports to the federal funding agency and reports to local United Ways is required. Responsibilities also include assisting with Criminal History Checks, tracking volunteer physicals, and preparing In-kind forms & reports.The successful applicant will be a team player and assist with special projects and events that are part of Appalachian Senior Programs.
This position is renewable yearly.
Preferred Qualifications | Good oral and written communication, as well as computer skills in Google Suite, zoom, and Microsoft Office, including Excel. Some experience with accounting and prior experience with non-profits preferred. Experience working with Senior Citizens is preferred, but not required.
Work Schedule/Hours | Monday-Friday, Typically three days a week however days & hours may vary during departments regular business hours. On occasion some weekends may be required.
