CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
Horn Entrepreneurship serves as the University of Delaware’s creative engine for entrepreneurship education and advancement. Built and actively supported by successful entrepreneurs and thought leaders, Horn Entrepreneurship empowers aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs as they pursue new ideas for a better world.
Under the direct supervision of Horn’s Faculty Director for the Siegfried Initiative for Entrepreneurial Leadership, the Program Coordinator serves as the primary planning and logistics lead for all meetings, activities, and events associated with the UD Coalition on Character Development and the Siegfried Fellows Program while also supporting other Horn offerings. The UD Coalition is a grant-funded, university-wide initiative aimed at embedding ethical character formation into academic, co-curricular, and athletic undergraduate programming. The Siegfried Fellows is a donor-funded, 10-month leadership and character development experience for undergraduate students.
The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of faculty, staff, and administrative efforts, contributing to a strategic institutional initiative and signature offering that promise to position UD as a leader in undergraduate character development. As a member of the Horn Entrepreneurship team, the Program Coordinator will work in a collaborative, fast-paced, purpose-driven and dynamic environment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Leading project management, logistics planning, and implementation for meetings, events, workshops, and other UD Coalition on Character Development activities.
· Drafting and distributing meeting materials, agendas, minutes, and reports.
· Organizing and coordinating travel, accommodations, and honoraria for visiting scholars and guest speakers.
· Managing on-site logistics, catering, venue setup, registration, and technology needs for events.
· Establishing and maintaining effective communication channels for the Coalition, including serving as the primary point of contact for cross-campus collaborators from Athletics, Student Life, the Honors College, Horn Entrepreneurship, and others.
· Collaborating with Coalition partners, especially the Center for Research in Education and Social Policy (CRESP), to support data collection, analysis, and reporting to internal and external
stakeholders, including activity outputs, impact, and learning outcomes; Maintain and monitor timelines, task trackers, and planning documents to ensure grant-specific deliverables are met.
· Supporting the Faculty Director by coordinating and facilitating Siegfried Fellows programming including leadership seminars, immersion trips, and speaker sessions. Specific responsibilities include:
· Maintaining regular communications with current Siegfried Fellows and alumni to confirm attendance, gather reflections, and optimize engagement throughout the academic year.
· Supporting social media storytelling, newsletter creation, and website updates to elevate the visibility of the Siegfried Fellows program.
· Assisting with program assessment including data collection, literature reviews, and synthesis of student feedback for continuous improvement.
· Utilizing customer relationship management software (Salesforce) to maintain complete and accurate participation/engagement records for Coalition, Siegfried Initiative, and related programming.
· Providing program coordination assistance similar to the responsibilities outlined above for current and future Horn-related offerings, as assigned.
· Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in education, organizational leadership, public policy, business, human development, entrepreneurship, or a relevant field and three years of relevant professional experience, preferably in higher education, program coordination, grant administration, or student development.
· Interest in ethical leadership, student character development, or related civic/educational mission-based work.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, including stakeholder communication and public-facing event coordination involving diverse audiences.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple timelines and competing priorities.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
· Working knowledge of event registration, survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics), and customer relationship management software (Salesforce) preferred.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, as the responsibilities of the position will require at least some participation in evening and weekend activities.
