| Description: The Program Manager, Orientation and New Student Programs (ONSP) helps to develop family and guest experiences, supports orientation programs, and oversees new student programs WHICH enhance the growth and development of the student body. The Program Manager, ONSP helps manage daily office operations and processes, supports staff hiring and development, collaborates with campus partners on new and existing programming and services, supports families and guests, assists with unit strategic planning and assessment, and oversees campus efforts that promote student orientation and new student programs. Duties: Designs and implements comprehensive family and guest programs that support the transition of new students and foster meaningful connections between families and the institution, along with ongoing support resources. Supports the implementation of large-scale events hosted by the department including orientation, new student programs, and family and guest experiences. Oversees the implementation of new student program initiatives, including extended orientation, first-year and second-year programs, and support initiatives tailored to specific student populations. Supports late night and weekend programs as needed. Develops year-round communication strategies and resources for families and supporters, including newsletters, digital content, and outreach campaigns that promote engagement and student success. Serves as the primary liaison for family and guest inquiries, providing timely and accurate responses to a range of questions and concerns. Leads and coordinates department representation at university-wide programs, presentations, and planning committee meetings. Acts as the point of contact and unit lead in the Director's absence. Oversees the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and ongoing development of office student leaders, student staff, and any additional undergraduate or graduate student staff. Develops and maintains internal and external communications for the department, ensuring effective communication with both students, families, campus partners. Manages department marketing and communications, overseeing print and digital program materials, marketing materials, departmental websites, and social media channels. Responsible for assessing orientation, new student programs, and family and guest experiences. Reports assessment initiatives and results to the Director and determines how learning outcomes align with the department's mission, Division of Student Affairs goals, and university priorities. Collaborates with office staff on all department programs, special projects, and other events. Collaborates with staff outside of Orientation and New Student Programs to host events and activities. Serves on divisional and university-wide committees and advisory boards and performs related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Minimum three years of experience working with, developing or delivering orientation, transition or retention programs, or a related area in a college or university setting.Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, Education, or a related field. Five years of experience developing or facilitating orientation programs, new student programs, and community building and other related experiences.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of student development theories and practices. Knowledge of budget management and fiscal responsibility. Knowledge of strategic planning and program alignment with institution goals and priorities. Skills in collaborative event planning and coordination. Skills in working alongside, leading or supervising student and professional staff. Skills in verbal and written communication. Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a team. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, allowing for flexibility in response to situations. Ability to examine student populations and interpret it into strategic solutions for department.
