Posting Context Statement  | The Indigenous Knowledge for Effective Education Program (IKEEP) Specialist designs, implements and manages recruitment, on-going retention and outreach, academic and leadership programs and services of significant breadth and depth to support Teacher Education for Native American students and communities. The Program Specialist will work with current IKEEP programming to develop and coordinate educational support programs that prepare and address the professional preparation of Native American teacher education students at the University of Idaho.

Position Overview  | This position performs a complex mix of duties in support of project or program development and delivery.

Duties may include: Coordinate office operations Document and tracking program schedules and business cycles Plan and coordinate program meetings and events Research and compile information for communications such as talking points, speech scripts and responses to correspondence and presentations Coordinate collection of data and materials for reports and other administrative documents Develop and maintain positive liaison relationships with various offices, customers and stakeholders including internal and advisory boards May assist with budget management and provide support for financial and/or personnel processes Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications 
Required Experience  | Three years providing administrative, business operations and/or program support Composing, proofing and editing a variety of documents, using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials Using computer software and applications for word processing, developing spreadsheets, email and internet research
Required Education  | High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other  | Ability to work non-standard business hours which may include evenings, weekends and holidays Ability to travel locally
Additional Preferred  | Master’s in Education, higher education administration, higher education counseling or related social science degree Familiarity with regional tribal structures Experience with systems of K-12 education, particularly in Native American serving schools and districts Experience with successful grant writing, program design, delivery, and assessment Research experience in areas of Native American education or other Native American issues
