OVERVIEW
The Program Trainer is responsible for the development, coordination, and provision of required and supplemental training for all staff in the Safety Verification Initiative (SVI) program. This position will create and coordinate live and self-paced training modules in accordance with the DHS/ICE and Applied Intellect requirements, which contribute to continued professional development. This position reports to the Program Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Develop and deliver engaging live and self-paced training modules that incorporate diverse learning styles and methodologies.
- Create high-quality training materials, including slide decks, handouts, and e-learning resources on areas of child welfare, behavioral health, child trafficking, immigration, and other relevant topics.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify areas for additional training that contribute to continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts and ongoing professional development.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through pre- and post-training assessments, feedback surveys, and other methods.
- Assist with facilitating the New Employee Orientation and develop an ongoing training schedule.
- Ensure all staff are in compliance with Applied Intellect’s and DHS/ICE’s annual training requirements and maintain training files.
- Remain abreast of latest developments in DHS/ICE training requirements and industry-best practices.
- Coordinate the provision of training by external organizations and subject matter experts on relevant topics as needed.
- Address staff conduct and performance issues using an approach that prioritizes safety, builds connection, and supports self-regulation as core guiding principles.
- Maintain confidentiality of health care records and information in keeping with HIPAA and Protected Health Information (PHI) requirements.
- Must maintain confidentiality in all program areas.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in education, behavioral sciences, social services, or a related field with at least two years of experience in staff training, case management, and/or child welfare.
- Demonstrated in-depth understanding of child welfare, child development, immigration, and other relevant topics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
- Experience with Absorb LMS and/or other learning management systems or e-learning platforms.
- Ability to type and be computer literate. Comfortable with using a tablet/iPad, or laptop to complete daily assignments.
- Proficiency in Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, and other course authoring tools preferred.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with different meeting and training platforms such as Zoom.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, valid car insurance, and reliable transportation (if required).
- Successful completion of DHS/ICE’s Preliminary Fitness Screening and Suitability Determination, federal background checks initiated upon employment (if required).

- Ability to travel occasionally and work flexible hours (if needed).

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Satisfactory completion of Applied Intellect’s Orientation and Training.
- Satisfactory completion of DHS/ICE-required trainings upon hire and on an annual basis; and
- Complete additional training identified by HR or supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; and
- Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
