General Job Description
This is a professional position responsible for supporting the coordination of ongoing and special projects, programs, and events within the College of Sciences and Mathematics. Responsible for supporting the advancement of the college through coordination of marketing as well as alumni and donor relations. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Dean.
Essential Job Functions
Provides assistance, oversight, and development for ongoing and special projects, programs, and events within the college, to include serving as a point of contact. Liaises between internal and external agencies. Assists with researching and identifying possible advancement opportunities for the college in conjunction with the Office of Development. Designs and produces print and digital marketing materials, including flyers, posters, email graphics, and social media content to support recruitment. Maintains and grows the college’s online presence through the use of web techniques, social media, and other networking platforms. Assists in maintaining and updating the college’s website. Drafts, edits, and proofreads internal and external communications, letters, and reports. Collaborates with related university departments to foster positive, lasting relationships with alumni, donors, and the community. Assists in developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving project goals. Compiles, prepares, and analyzes reports for the college.
Non-Essential Job Functions
May supervise assigned staff, including student assistants. May receive and/or supervise the receipt of payments from students and others for departmentally sponsored activities. Participates in recruitment and retention activities as appropriate. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, university and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the administration of federal or state funds. Knowledge of web techniques and social media outlets. Knowledge of program planning and implementation. Skill in using computer applications, including spreadsheet, database, word processing, video and photo editing, and graphic design software. Skill in collecting and analyzing data. Skill in completing assignments accurately with attention to detail. Organizational skill in managing projects simultaneously while maintaining a satisfactory work product. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with general supervision. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public. Ability to effectively market the programs and services of the department. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Physical Demands |
Required Education | Bachelor’s degree is required. Related experience may be substituted for required education on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.
Required Experience and Training | Two years of related experience is required. Experience with event/project planning and implementation is required. Experience with marketing, graphic design, and photography/video editing is required.
Preferred Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Special Conditions for Eligibility | This is a security-sensitive position subject to criminal record check.
This is an IT-sensitive position subject to the Computer and Network Security policy.
