Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a thoughtful, collaborative P&S Functional Learning Business Partner to support the P&S Training Team’s mission of delivering impactful learning solutions aligned to business needs. This role reports to P&S Director of Training and combines learning partnership with project management responsibilities, ensuring training initiatives move from discovery through delivery, to support functional areas like HR, Finance, Supply Chain and other specialty functional areas.

You’ll serve as an internal consultant to departments across the organization, partnering with stakeholders to identify learning opportunities through focused discovery and analysis. Working at the front end of the ADDIE model, you’ll help determine whether training is the right solution and, if so, define the scope and desired outcomes. Beyond consulting, you’ll also take on project management of training initiatives, including tracking progress, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring deliverables meet expectations.

While you may occasionally support facilitation or light development, your focus will be on aligning business needs to learning solutions, guiding stakeholders, and shepherding projects through their lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, agile-learning environment where priorities shift and adaptability is key.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct structured discovery sessions to clarify performance challenges, business objectives, and whether training is the right fit.
  • Gather and analyze resources, documentation, and feedback to inform the Analysis phase of ADDIE.
  • Translate findings into actionable recommendations that guide design and development efforts.
  • Collaborate with teammates to prioritize requests, ensuring alignment with strategy and capacity.
  • Serve as a thought partner for business leaders and SMEs, helping shape performance and development solutions.
  • Build trust with departments across the business, encouraging proactive engagement with the training team.
  • Lead training projects using practical project management approaches, applying agile principles where appropriate (e.g., iterative check-ins, backlog tracking, transparent communication).
  • Manage project timelines, stakeholder roles, and deliverables across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Facilitate regular progress reviews, flag risks or dependencies early, and adapt plans to keep work moving forward.
  • Coordinate the flow of information between SMEs, designers, and facilitators to ensure smooth handoffs and aligned outputs.
  • Support or co-facilitate sessions when subject expertise and team capacity align.
  • Provide light development support such as editing outlines, reviewing slides, or suggesting session structure.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Business, Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in learning and development, talent development, or performance consulting
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects or initiatives, including planning, coordinating stakeholders, tracking milestones, and delivering outcomes on time.
  • Strong consulting, communication, and relationship-building skills with non-training audiences
  • Experience with instructional design models such as ADDIE and SAM
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain momentum across concurrent projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SharePoint, Teams, and LMS platforms

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or equivalent project management training/credentials, is a plus
  • Instructional Design experience using Articulate Storyline or Rise or Instructor-led materials.
  • Experience supporting technical or operations teams in a complex environment
  • Knowledge of project management approaches (Agile, Scrum, or hybrid) applied to training initiatives
  • Familiarity with learning measurement, evaluation models, or analytics
